Cheryl, I've never tried using them the way you have... and sorta can see

why it wont' work...

when we melt the waxes in a bit of oil for superfatting, they really do

scent soap quite strongly...

now...I've never tried melting them and then straining off the oil that I

melted them in...to see if it retains the scent...but you might try that

with the jojoba (obviously not with the alcohol!)

since the wax is already in it...and it's sitting there doing nothing... it

might be worth trying... perhaps double boiler it at a slow simmer for a

few hours and then, once it cools, pour off the jojoba and see?

another thought...we are so used to using jojoba interchangeably with cold

pressed oils...I have come across SOME cases where that won't work...for

example, the neem CO2 extract will dissolve in a cold pressed oil... and

will NEVER dissolve in jojoba, no matter if you heat it, puree it..whatever...

hope this is of some help...

Hey Marge,

Thanks, figured it was something like that. It

was an experiment and wanted other opinions.

Appreciate the ideas too.

Yep,

That is true Marge :)

I guess I should have specified that MOST folks don't want to make soap

or candles with those oils since they are so pricy and soap and candle

making eat up lots of drops of oils that are quite expensive per drop.

For those folks especially, it is a nice way to experience a soap made

with real rose or jasmine instead of using their fragrance oil

counterparts instead.

I've done it myself, made Rose and Jasmine soaps - cold process, hot

process and M & P - it is just expensive.

>Marge, would you share a soap recipe using a floral wax?

okay...first of all, I don't like using JUST the wax for scenting...it's

close to the real thing, but somehow not quite true...

so what i normally do is use 1 oz of the floral wax where I would use 1/2

oz of essential oil... so...for example...

in a six lb batch...that 'in theory' would take 3 full ounces of EO to

scent... (1/2 oz times six)

I'd use probably two ounces of the floral wax...and one ounce of an EO

blend. or one and a half of eo's.

in our rose soaps... I use 3 parts rose wax, 2 parts rosewood essential

oil, and one part true rose oil to scent them.

In our " Mille Fleur " soap I use 4 oz of a blend of various 'floral' eo's,

2 oz of rose wax, and one oz of mimosa wax.

does that give you some sort of idea?

melt the wax in with whatever fixed oil you want to superfat with...and add

at trace... (let the oil and wax stand in simmering water...if it cools

down you are going to have a mess... solid wax on top of the oil...
