Guest guest
Hi Chris, here are the recipes for the hair conditioners that are on Snowdrift Farms Site. Don't know if anyone on our list carries these products or not, but,all ingredients can be purchased there. Keep in mind, i haven't tried either one of these , but i intend to as soon as i get some ewax. I will say i have never been disappointed with any recipe that i have tried from their site. If anyone tries these before i get a chance to, please let me know how they turn out and if they work well for them. Pour into waiting > sterile containers. > Basic Shiny Hair Conditioner This hair conditioner combines natural conditioning agents with silicones for detangling and shine. It rinses out easily to give a clean feeling to wet hair. This hair conditioner will thicken slowly over a week as the quats rearrange themselves and order the emulsion. The thickness can be adjusted by changing the water content. Oil Phase6 g Avocado oil 20 g Shea oil 30 g Apricot Kernal oil 4 g Phenonip 8 g Cyclomethicone 4 g Dimethicone (low viscosity) 24 g Emulsifying wax NF Scent up to 10 ml - optionalWater Phase200 ml Distilled water 4 g Lactic acid 10 ml Soy Quat 5 ml Silk ProteinCombine the oils, Phenonip and the silicones and mix well. Add the emulsifying wax and heat until melted. Use a microwave in short bursts at half power or a double boiler. The oil phase should be warm enough to ensure that it does not solidify when added to the water. Combine the ingredients in the water phase while the oil phase is melting. Add the lactic acid first followed by the soy quat and the silk protein, The water phase should be warmed to around 110 to 120 F before starting the lotion. Be careful not to overheat the water as the quat will coagulate. Add the oil phase to the water phase slowly while processing using a stick blender. Blend for several minutes. Add fragrance and blend well. A stick blender is required to ensure that a good emulsion is made. Hand blending techniques do not provide enough mixing to ensure that the emulsion will not separate. Pour into bottles while hot. The conditioner will thicken as it cools and ages. Allow up to a week for complete thickening.
