Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to today and if this isn't the best group for this, can someone point me in the right direction. I am a vegan going through perimenopause. I take a lot of supplements for the perimenopausal part, as well as for the extreme adrenal burnout I had as a result of its onset. I also take a good multi. My problem is a lot of belching in the morning. I can wake up at 3:30 and be unable to get back to sleep. I take probiotics and a good digestive enzyme, but still the problem persists. I have been unable to pinpoint a correlation between anything that I'm doing/taking that is causing this. For a while, my stomach hurt if I ate too many cold foods, so now I am drinking herbal tea during the day. I am used to eating a high- fiber diet, too. I had seen a Chinese acupuncturist who was very good, and understood my problem right away. She was also extremely aggressive with the needles to where I won't go back to her (yes, I told her about it and she persisted), and I am also now extremely wary of going to another acupuncturist. I would love to get a good night's sleep. Sometimes I do have one, but then the next night, it's back to the same old same old. It's playing hell with my social life. Any ideas on this? Thanks in advance.
Guest guest
" Supposedly " (I don't know of studies to cite), vegans lose their stomach's ability to produce hydrochloric acid because without meat, it is not needed very much. Also, as most of us get older, we lose HCL production anyway. Your symptoms sound rather classic for a need for supplemental HCL with your meals. Guest guest
It sounds like what you are taking is not agreeing with your system. Try to find a practioner who can do muscle testing on you to see if your supplements are right for you. We tend to think that anything we take naturally can help but it can make things worse if your body does not accept it. See if you can find someone who practices NAET. Hope that helps. Guest guest
I am having a little bit of a hard time understanding this. You said your acupuncturist was helping. If not then why not go back to her? Are you afraid of needle pain? From my experience, it does not hurt. Anyway... Do you exercise? Nutrition is great but exercise is better. Olympic athletes or any athletes do not win by just eating good food and supplements. I would suggest abdominal exercises or any exercises. Yoga exercises are also good like bow and wheel and camel poses. GB > My problem is a lot of belching in the morning. Guest guest
Hi there! It's hard say to for sure, but are you aware of belching (etc.) after eating sweets? So many of us have had candida overgrowth, that we become very sugar conscious. Refined carbohydrates also feed yeast easily, and sugar in all forms does. Peaks in blood sugar will sometimes, inadvertantly also do so. Diet can be a factor, if this is your case. It sure seems you're very food aware. You may already be on top of it. Guest guest
Thanks to all who answered my question. A few comments: 1. I did a big candida cleanse back when this first happened, so it's not candida. 2. The acupuncturist was very painful, hence my comment about her being too aggressive with the needles. She put one in a nerve on purpose in my arm, and I almost jumped off the table. She said it was to help me sleep. I told her not to do it again, and yes, the next visit, she did it again. That was my last visit to her. After her, I'm squeamish about going back. 3. I will do research into NAET, thank you, including what that acronym means. I was going to see an herbalist I'd heard about, but when I called for an appointment, I found outhe's $290 for a 75-minute consultation, you have to book him three months in advance, and the killer for me was that he wanted a $150 deposit and if you cancelled, he kept $75 of it. I'd had a free consultation with someone who recommended him, but she was shocked when she heard how that worked. 4. As far as HCL goes, I know most adults only have 40% of the stomach acid they had when they were kids. I also know that using it if you don't need it can damage your stomach lining, so I've hesitated trying that. Don't want to make something worse. Thanks to those who responded here and privately. Guest guest
NAET is Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad's Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Techniques. She is a chiropractor in southern California. Guest guest
Dear friends, acupuncture is one of best pathy, it has answers for all types of problems, the needles does not give any pain or irritation however some people do have some negative attitude toward the needling in such case now a days there are other methods like moxibustion, laser, or other methods for any types of treatment and problems. regards Guru K <greatyoga wrote: I am having a little bit of a hard time understanding this. Guest guest
Charlotte, Locate someone in your area who does bioresonance therapy. This is an EAV/EDS (electro-dermal screening device) that backs out allergy sensitivities. There are many EAV systems on the market, but most do not have the ability to back out. I use one in my practice and I can back out allergies and have a smoking cessation that backs out the desire to smoke, so these systems are fabulous. Just google Bioresonance or EAV or EDS in your area and call and ask if they are true bioresonance. Good luck Nancey Savinelli, Naturopath
Guest guest
I am getting ready to begin a yoga class next week. I have found a NAET practitioner not far from me and I am emailing him today for more information. Thanks to those who responded. I'm still not sleeping as I should, and a good night's sleep would be worth a tickertape parade at this point. Charlotte Never miss a thing. Make your homepage. Guest guest
Hi Charlotte, I guess I would also tend to think of HCl acid lack in the stomach. Perhaps you could cut your supplements down to one per day see if the problem stops and then begin reintroducing one at a time. If the problem does indeed come back and is supplement related, I would say then try a HCl Pepsin supplement with them (although I would have guessed that your digestive enzyme supp would have some in it). I think if you didn't need it and then persisted over many months in taking HCl acid then your stomach lining could suffer, but I don't think just one round would hurt you to see if it helps.
