Guest guest
http://www.fda.gov/consumer/updates/bioidenticals010908.html A natural, safer alternative to dangerous prescription drugs " " Can slim you down by reducing hormonal imbalances " " Prevents Alzheimer's disease and senility " FDA is concerned that unfounded claims like these are misleading women and health care professionals about products known as " bio-identical hormone replacement therapy " (BHRT) for relief of the symptoms of menopause. " BHRT " is a marketing term not recognized by FDA. Sellers of bio-identicals often claim that these " all-natural " pills, creams, lotions, and gels are without the risks of synthetic FDA-approved drugs for menopausal hormone therapy (MHT). FDA-approved MHT drug products provide effective relief of the symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness. They also can prevent thinning of bones. Guest guest
And the many drugs the FDA has approved that have been taken off the market for killing people were safe? I agree that one should have a good, knowledgeable doctor to help you balance hormones if using bioidenticals. That can't be done if they are sold online to people that don't have a doctor and a prescription. Those selling them could well be hurting those of us that have reputable doctors who have prescribed compounded BHRT. Premarin and Provera HAVE been proven to be unsafe and have some bad side effects but they aren't trying to stop THEM from being prescribed. Of Wyeth had it's way I couldn't get what I take which has been the ONLY thing that has stopped almost weekly migraines and other symptoms Premarin and Provera are a DIFFERENT molecule then the human body makes and the hormone receptors don't know how to handle them - hence numerous side effects. They are changed so they can patent them and make money. Bioidenticals, in proper balance, have been used by MANY doctors for 20-30 years now with great results. I have no faith in most of what the FDA says and neither do many people I know. They are mainly out to help the drug companies make more money. As a user of bioidentical hormones, including bi-est, have full confidence that they will continue to help in other ways besides those I've already experienced. The body KNOWS what to do with bio-identical hormones and they do need to be balanced with progesterone and estriol - not just estradiol (which is in premarin only in the form a horse recognizes) There is tons of evidence out there - just not the types of " studies " that are done on drugs because there is no one to pay for them. The drug companies finance all the studies and if they can get away with it they will slant the results - it's been proven time and again. , " llaci2003 " <jjaksic wrote: > > http://www.fda.gov/consumer/updates/bioidenticals010908.html > > A natural, safer alternative to dangerous prescription drugs " > > > " Can slim you down by reducing hormonal imbalances " > > " Prevents Alzheimer's disease and senility " > > FDA is concerned that unfounded claims like these are misleading women > and health care professionals about products known as " bio-identical > hormone replacement therapy " (BHRT) for relief of the symptoms of > menopause. > > " BHRT " is a marketing term not recognized by FDA.
