Guest guest
I've had Osteopathic alignment adjustments for 3 separate problems, one was Sacral Cranial. The result was successful. Know all Osteopaths are not the same, find a traditional one. My health insurance paid 60% of the bill, they listed it under Physical Therapy. Diane In a message dated 2/17/2009 10:02:03 P.M. Guest guest
I am a massage therapist and I have learned a little about cranioSacral therapy. I think you should check it out and maybe accupuncture as well. Unfortunately I live in Quebec, Canada and I have no idea if your insurance can cover it. Guest guest
Craniosacral therapy is wonderful if you get the right therapist. There are many out there who claim to be. If you look on the Upledger Institute website you can find one in your area and it will tell how highly certified they are. Our insurance covered it when it was done by a Physical or occupational therapist. Otherwise it did not. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Ma, Deep muscle tissue work will address this issue as well. Look for a massage therapist that does neuromuscular techniques. Insurance companies will reimburse this with less argument if there's a prescription for it. Finding a doctor that believes in massage therapy & is willing to make out a prescription is a bit harder. If they won't sign off on it or don't believe in massage therapy, ask them if they've ever gotten one. Many have opinions about m.t. without the experience. Guest guest
Do they still train/graduate oestheopaths in the traditional method? I, too, have heard about the new breed of oestheopath. Some don't even do skeletal adjustments. Guest guest
There are Osteopaths who were schooled in learning the conventional method and the ones who learned the old traditional method like Robert Fulford, D.O. Long ago I knew nothing about a Osteopathic doctor. I was having this painful wrist problem for 3 months, from picking up something heavy. I went to 3 doctors who could not heal my wrist. I found this book " A Touch of Life " by Robert Fulford, D.O. in the library in the wrong section. I learned about Osteopathy for the first time. I believe I was spiritually guided to this book and my Osteopath. When a person is out of alignment it can cause all kinds of illnesses. I live in NYC. I looked up in the yellow pages to find a Osteopath, only found 2. I chose this Russian Osteopath Mikhail. When I walked into his office there was a sign I was in the right place. On Mikhail's wall above his desk was a photo of Robert Fulford the author. Mikhail told me he studied Robert Fulford's traditional method of Osteopathy that Fulford was his mentor. Mikhail treated and healed my wrist problem, could actually feel the energy release. I also told Mikhail during the consultation that I had been born with a mild case of ADHD, and hated the inner nervous tension within me, the short memory span and not able to concentrate. I did not mind the excess energy. He gave me CranioSacral therapy. The alignment and adjustment was amazing. All my negative symptoms were gone, except for my excess energy which I enjoy having. I felt like a new person. Years later I had Hypoglycemia and my doctor told me there was no cure, just a diet to control it. I did not believe that I could not be healed, so I went to my Osteopath Mikhail, he made the adjustment and I was healed. Mikhail was expensive, but worth it. I was happy that my health insurance paid 60% of the bill. Another story. I was going to a Chiropractor for treatments for a pulled arm tendon. Found out that a pulled arm tendon takes longer to heal then a broken arm. I only chose that Chiropractor because she was near my job in Manhattan and I was able to go on my lunch hour. Gina was a young cool female Chiropractor. My health insurance covered all the treatments. Well during that time I felt very tired and a sore back. I have several penpals I email to. One was a Australian penpal and she told me she will ask her daughter about my symptoms. Her daughter is a Holistic vet and a psychic. Her daughter recommended Swedish Whey and Nettle tea, and told me to have my Thoracic vertebrae adjusted. I told Gina my chiropractor about the psychic's advice. Gina said fine I'll make the adjustment. When she adjusted my Thoracic vertebrae the symptoms were gone. Diane In a message dated 2/18/2009 9:26:07 P.M. Guest guest
Yes they do. Have to find a Holistic medicine school of Osteopathy. I also think the Osteopathy schools in the UK and other European countries are better. I recall my neighbor wanted to learn and get a certificate in dog grooming. Her grooming classes were a total of 2 weeks. My German dog groomer is in New Rochelle. He said the American dog groomer schools are a joke. My German groomer went to school in Germany. His classes were for 9 months, and he had to learn the anatomy of the dog, plus other medical education on dogs. My groomer cleans in between the dogs paws, he says dirt gets in between and can cause an infection. He also tells me my Shih Tzu is over weight not good for the heart. He also does not use tranquilizers on problem dogs. I did not even know groomers do this, until my neighbor Louie across the street told me his dog has to be put under. When he switched to the German groomer his dog never needed a tranquilizer. The groomer told Louie I had no problem with your dog. There is a big difference of American and German groomer schools.
