Guest guest
Hi Jeanine! My dh is a pilot too, and when he suffers from sinus problems he reverts back to the tried and true nasal lavage. (Google nasal lavage for more 'concise' info...but in a nutshell, make a solution of water, pickling salt, and baking soda to be gently squirted into the sinuses to help remove mucus, amongst other things.) At any rate, the ingredients are pretty simple to keep in his travel case. Have him grab some bottled water from the galley to use. The soft bulb syringes can be found at the pharmacy and/or in the 'baby' section of the store. We use the syringe included with the 'ear cleaning' kit found at WalMart. HTH At any rate, this can likely be used in conjunction with whatever you blend up for him to sniff. Having cleaner/clearer nasal passages can't hurt, eh? I'm wondering if some of Butch's oregano EO (linalool type) might be nice for him to sniff? I know I'd enjoy it. Lisa
Guest guest
Hi Jeanine I know exactly how hard it is to get oils such as khella here in New Zealand but since you and I are almost neighbours you are welcome to some of mine if it helps. Kind Regards Kerry - David and Jeanine Moss Thursday, December 02, 2004 9:15 PM Sinusitis Hope someone can help with this. My husband is a pilot and he was flying with a first officer a few months ago who suffered dreadfully from sinusitis. ( Very painful condition when you are flying)He has even had his sinuses scraped 3 times, and he reckons it is awful. I made him up a blend to sniff with khella and manuka, and although he was very sceptical, he said he would try it. He has just sent me an email saying that he wants some more as it has been great, and he is a convert. Thing is, I have no khella left , it is hard to get in New Zealand, so I wondered if anyone has a really good tried and true blend. Guest guest
Would you be interested in sharing this recipe I have a friend that suffers terribly with this problem and has even considered getting the scraping done. I think that it sounds painful to have this done. Kathy - David and Jeanine Moss 12/3/2004 5:15:17 AM Sinusitis Hope someone can help with this. Guest guest
Hi My husbands suffers from it as well and I put 2-3 drops of Peppermint EO and 2-3 drops of Euculytpus EO in a bowl of steaming water that I heated in the Microwave for 2 min or so, twice a day and it does the job , and when he is at work I will put some drops of the same on a hankerchef and sniff as needed, works great !! Tea Tree is also good for this . Sofia - Lisa Nelson Thursday, December 02, 2004 3:09 AM Re: Sinusitis Hi Jeanine! Guest guest
Our nasal passages also contain good bacteria so one has to be careful what you spray into them. Hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria good and bad.... Melly
