Guest guest
Hi Ya'll, This is another one of those Hot subjects! The question, is organic labeled foods really any better than conventional foods? Before you make a hasty choice, let us understand a little more about what Organics means. In a strict sense of the chemical meaning, it means a product which is bound with some source of Carbon!! So legally , any food which is grown by any means , whither with all kinds of Poisons or Not, is Organic, because all food has some level of carbon in it!! To make matters worse, since the Government has gotten involved in the making of regulations covering Organic foods, they have made it a laughing matter, now, because a lot of the times what you get that is Labeled Organic is not any better than the rest of the food if it is comming from a commercial enity. Ohh, I can hear the crys of Fraud already, but bear with me, before you commit yourself! What I mean by a commercial enity, is a place which generally wholesales to the retailers in large quanities and the retailers pass it on to you. The reason I am telling you this is because if you would get hold of some of the Government rules on what may and what may not be used to grow the foods and still be Labeled Organic, is a joke in it's self!! The rules have now been written to allow big commercial growers who have the " right " connections to grow their crops and still use some of the same poisons as before, but now the labels on some of these poisons have been changed so it looks like another product and or now is called a nutrient or foliar aide etc, and as most people don't understand chemistry very well, it looks ok!! There are other times where the grower obtains extra favors from his inspector, allowing things to be used which are not good to eat. These problems are most common in the very big producers, because it is business as usual!!! But if you may find a local person who is a small operator, growing for the local market and he doesn't use any Poisons, then you may get a better product, than the commercial producer as a general rule!!! What is more important than if it is labeled organic, is if it has been grown without any kinds of Poisons and if it is vine ripe and fresh and if it has a high " Brix " reading(this will tell you that it is high in Alkaline minerals and natural sugars) , which means it is Healthy for you to eat, and you will be able to taste the difference of it's better quality, with NO problem, over any other food of the same kind, from any other grower who doesn't have quality food!!! The original idea that started out, pushing organics, was to be a Quality food which didn't have any Poisons used on it and to be raised in Harmony with nature. As always is the case when it becomes a big business, then Big money gets into the action and ruins the Quality of it all by figuring out another way to profit from the public, by cutting corners and providing a less Quality product for more money , and you the public get Screwed again!! The best way for you to get Quality food is to learn to grow it yourself and then you may pick it vine ripe and fresh . For those living in the city or in an apartment, you may grow sprouts to get fresh food and or if you have enough room you may container garden. You need very little room to grow a lot of good food if you know how to do it!! One oak barrel cut in half and set up and filled with the correct mixes of soil and other minerals and organic matter may grow a HUGH amount of food and it only takes a place about 3 feet wide and 6 feet long to hold these !! If it is ok with the owners of this forum and there is enough interest, I would be Happy to share with you some of the ideas how to grow Healthy Mineralized vegetables which will taste sweeter than any you may buy, and without using any Poisions. For if the plant is Highly Mineralized and Healthy, then the bugs will not bother the plant!!! Bugs only eat plants which are too poor Quality to keep the person Healthy. For when the person is to eat these plants or fruit or vegatables from the plant or tree, where Poison was used to stop the bugs from eating the poor quality food, the person does not stay Healthy!!! More later if allowed and there is interest. Smile Tis your choice!

Guest guest
Here Here! I am so glad someone has discovered that just because something says it is organic and even ‘certified organic’ it just may not be. The big guys are finding ways around all the terms set forth by the gov’t. If you can find a small producer such as a CSA, who is all natural, even certified naturally grown, you can be sure of the product you put in your mouth. And yes even better – grow it yourself!
