Guest guest
Acne can either be from issue with the bodies detoxification system (kidneys, liver, lymph, etc), as well as from altered hormonal levels. With your sons case, it is hormonally based. When a teenager is going through puberty, the body shifts into over producing structural and functional biochemicals in order for growth, etc. At the same time, this makes cortisol and adrenaline levels go up. On top of that, most teenagers each lots of carbs, sugar, processed foods, coke, juices, etc or do not each much at all. Not going to go into the physiologically aspects of this, but having acne is sometimes a sign of increase adrenaline, cortisol and/or insulin levels. I would use some basic nutrition and lifestyle principles in order to help regulate this. The key here is stress reduction in order for his body to reduce the high levels of hormones that are up. I posted this along with a past post about sleep, water, organic food, etc. I would start there. Maybe try some acupuncture, herbs, etc. But at this point, it is somewhat normal. The more you try to fight or fix the natural progressions of the body, the more you will damage his metabolic system for the future. What does his diet consist mostly of? I would start there. Remember, it takes life to give life. So if he is eating lots of coke, processed foods, aspartame, etc=chemicals, there is strong possibility that these are causing altered hormonal (cortisol, insulin, etc) levels, creating acne.
