Guest guest
Tincture.... I use a quart canning jar, fill it up with the herb of choice, usually dry.. ( in this case feverfew). Then I fill it to the top with vodka, keep it in a dark place for 3-4 weeks, shaking it several times a day. Then i strain the herb out and take 2-3 droppers full a day. Hope this helps make it clear. Collee Collee please excuse my ignorance..but when you say you made a "tincture", what does that mean? How do you make a "tincture"? Guest guest
#1. You can use any "booze" with a high alcohol content. Also, can use apple cider vinegar or glycerin. But 100 proof vodka, or everclear, extracts the herbs the best. Its flavor is easily disguised by the taste of the herbs. #2. You can do it either way. Many people put it in a hot drink, it will evaporate the alcohol and leave the pure extract. In my family we do not use alcohol so this works well for us. I like to make my own tinctures so I know the purity of my herbal remedies. I hope you will try it, but making your own can be addicting. Now I have a large book shelf and large cabinet dedicated to my herbs and assessories. Thanks for explaining that to me.
