Thank you for posting this Hugh, you are a gentleman. I work a lot on the computer and when the post get repeated over and over I get lost. No problems with me, just wish others would trim their post. Crazy how that goes. I have to use the digest or I would get to much email. Gets crazy sometimes. Again thank you for being so nice about this. Warmest regards, Micki

just one stupid question.. if we trim our post in our replies, how would anyone else know what we are talking about when they read it?

delete the toilet paper roll of comments back and forth and only include the comment you're responding to.

You just leave enough of the other person's post and delete all the rest including footers

Hi Group,

Regarding thread on how to post: Sometimes it seems a dilemma & it IS nice if one is not caught up on the latest threads when reading the digests, to be able to see at a glance scrolling down to know origin, development and current. (Oh, yes, it is my humble opinion that there ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS, as a rule, unless some under-teeny-bopper age decides to question just to heckle & harass, (I had 5 children) so know what real "stupid questions" are.)

BUT, if one has been been caught up, its so nice to see just the current one WITHOUT having to go to the web and sign in & read the whole thing.

For those who do, go to just "copy/paste" in the latest relevant ones to excerpt, it makes it handy for the reader.

Then the minute challenge of protocol is does one put the source at the top or the bottom? I've put my response at the top as mine comes out when responding otherwise to a lengthy one, now excerpted, thus:

Yes I agree - some of my friends just post a response - like from 5 weeks ago and not my original comment and this is difficult as I get 3 - 500 emails a day so they don't get much sense back out of that - mainly it is the list details that need to be trimmed - having that 5 x over would get a bit lengthy!!
