Mucus in stool

Greetings,

I have been enjoying reading the posts but now it is time for me to

post a question!

A patient of mine 48 y.o. male with hx; Muscular Dystrophy has been

complaining of severe constipation after about a year bout of

constant diarrhea. To this point everything I have tried herbally

works for a few days or a week and nothing beyond that. He is, at this

point, fairly depleted on all levels and yes, has stagnation in the

Liver Channel. I am trying to make a better diagnosis and am not sure

what to make of one symptom: He uses enemas to have a somewhat

incomplete evacuation and while he has always had lots of musus come

out, he nows has what he terms voluminous amounts. What does this

mean???? how can I use this to better understand his condition?

ANY help at all would be appreciated.

Please include the patient's history, pulses, signs

and symptoms, color of mucus, diet, is there any

blood, etc... what is the patient's overall

constitution, and how about his lung function.

If you mean 'mucus', this is Phlegm Impacted.

You might wish to establish its genesis, location, and elemental pattern.

Diane,

(i am sending this on-list because your server would not accept my

reply...perhaps you can write me again from a different address?)

Diane,

You are very welcome for the info, makes me happy that you learned some

stuff too. There is a book called " the oil that heals " by William

McGarrey (sp?), he is (was) just fantastic, seriously...one of those

for-real doctors. I actually found a book he wrote in like '74 or so

about acupuncture! He was studying with Felix Mann and all this long

before Miriam Lee and all that; was puncturing people, this after a

lifetime as a physician and practitioner of medicine from the Cayce

readings, anything you can find of his...he's just very inspiring to me.

Let me know what you think of the packs! I just got a new flannel, so i

actually didn't start again cause the old one was well...old, and wanted

a new one. It can be a deeply spiritual experience, esp if you listen to

something inspiring (music or words) and meditate during, i think the

oil has a really high vibration and if we let it in can be pretty

miraculous.

Take care, Tym

Rebecca,

Sorry for the confusion, Diane and i had been writing off-list as we

were talking about a non-TCM herbal protocol, and felt it was not on

topic, but since you are interested, i can mention it here briefly.

What we are talking about is the use of the Palma Christi or Castor

Oil Poultice over the Duodenum as an application for steatorrhea (but

it's application is effective for much more than just that).

I had sent the link, which i'll post here which has a slight bit of

information (though the book i mentioned is much better) and the

manner of application for a few ailments:

http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-q=castor+oil & sp-a=sp100268fb & sp-p=all & sp-f=IS\

O-8859-1

As i understand it, the herb is used in TCM but primarily PO as a

laxative and to excelerate birth.

Thank you! I have used Castor oil packs in the past

but I am not aware of the variety of it's uses.
