reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD)

My own mother has a very severe case of RSD at the time, and I'm not sure if

I'm being of any help. I have tried several herbal formulas, and we've done

a lot of acupuncture, but I don't know. Her recovery will most probably take

a full year. And I'm pessimistic about a full recovery. She's still in phase

one of RSD, after 4-5 months.

These are the formulas I used:

soon after her colles fracture:

chai hu 10

san leng 12

dang gui 10

da huang 5

hong hua 12

tao ren 12

qin jiao 20

bai xian pi 15

sheng di 20

huang qi 20

san qi 3

xi xin 2

gan cao 4

and this was the latest formule I used:

dan shen 24

dang gui 18

ru xiang 18

mo yao 18

yin chai hu 21

huang lian 12

qin jiao 15

san leng 12

di gu pi 15

zhi mu 15

These formulas are based upon Chinese articles I found on the subject.

I'd be happy to hear about your results,

best,

Tom.

reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD)

Does anyone have any experience treating RSD? I am seeing the patient

tomorrow, so I dont have any case details yet. I was just trying to

do some preliminary research.

thanks for the help.

A few years ago I had a RSD patient. One shallow, direst needle set off

an episode in my office. However, three sessions of ear needling alone

gave her a 75% reduction of pain in her arm. The pain was described as

searing, burning and wave like sensations that usually were worse at

night. She also indicated that loud noises, " rock " music and windy days

could set off an attack. She was unable to take herbs or come back for

more treatment due to financial reasons. Even though we never

completely resolved the condition my patient has been able to manage.

She is now back at work as a housekeeper and getting along.

Just my 2 cents

Thanks to all for the input.

I met the patient yesterday and treated her with a Manaka root Tx

followed by a 'Kiiko' scar Tx and SP-21 w/stimulation. The patient

showed immediate and remarkable results in terms of range of motion,

joint flexibility (she was able to move two joints that were frozen

prior to Tx) and stated that her hand felt more 'alive'! I am

interested to see if these results hold.

For what it is worth I found an interesting link to a clinic web site

claiming to have cured 3 cases of RSD using the 5 Element External

Demon treatment. I may try this treatment if progress stalls.

Thanks again for the input.

Graham:

It sounds like the treatments you are using are really working.

I did learn the demons treatment in school. It couldn't hurt to try it. I use

internal demons a lot and they are very powerful for clearing emotional blocks.

The external demons are more suited to physical insults that are trapped in the

body - e.g. an exposure to cold or a toxin, a car accident. My first patient

that I treated by myself here in beautiful down town LaPlata came to me to quit

smoking. I asked how long he had smoked. He said 50 years. And by the way I

was a fireman for 25 years. He was in his 60's and didn't look so hot (well

actually he was) when I saw him. While on the table he mentioned he had been

blown out of a building twice - kind of like going through the movie " Backdraft "

a couple of times. I said " You were blown out of a building? " Well my eyes

widened (not so he could see it) and bells went off ED's ED' (external demons).

We are suppose to look for possession in the eyes (a kind of cloud cover- a shen

disturbance) and we do, but stories like tha

t make you look harder.
