Moderator do-did a boo-boo. However she finds it hard to be particularily sorry about this one. :-) Why? Because this list is NOT just about Aromatherapy... Chris' intention (and she'll slap me silly if I've got it wrong) was to have a list for all different kinds of alternative modalities to be able to be discussed .( Gosh that sentence just SUCKS!) So, everything from Reiki, to homeopothy, to chakra's, to aromatherapy, to reflexology to.. to... to... is fair game... which is why she named the list: " Oils_Herbs_ ETC " Besides, those of use who don't know much about any other modalities other than aromatherapy (which includes your's truly as I don't know nuttin bout nuttin) are interested at least hearing about them. It widens our choices. So. Moderator made a boo-boo... but it was a good'un! :-) K Cheers! Guest guest
Hi! First I would like to introduce myself, I am new to the list. I am very happy that I was able to find this list! I live near Cleveland, Ohio and have been in love with aromatherapy for years. I completed a course from the Australasian College of Herbal Studies and am in the process of starting my home based business. (around the schedule of my four boys!) Anyway, about my boogery baby problem. My 18 month son has suddenly come down with a major mucous problem. Not really sure yet if it is allergies or something else. But the poor kid is literally pouring at the nose. It is so bad that he gags and up comes rivers of mucous. Constantly try to cough it up and unable to sleep. I thought I might ask if anybody out there has a suggestion for a blend that I might use for him. I have eucalyptus smithii going in the diffuser and plan on giving him a lavender massage shortly. I would love any other suggestions! Thanks! Laura ______________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the Web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! Guest guest
Laura, I'm replying 'offlist' since my suggestions are not aromatherapy - please look for a good homeopath. The mucous need to be addressed (not just soothed) and homeopathy offers a very quick and direct way to do that. I use both in my practice as an ND so I'm not suggesting that aromatherapy is not effective - but it may not be effective quickly enough. Overproduction of mucous is not such a big problem, but in a baby, that overproduction can get ahead of you fast - and that can lead to blockages - that's where ear infections, sinus infections, and lung infections can get a foothold. Nice to have you on the list. Warmest best wishes for resolving your baby's problem. Donna - Laura T Sarbach Monday, May 03, 2004 12:29 PM intro & boogery baby problem Hi! The first thing I'd say is dilute, dilute, dilute. Ooops, that's 3 things. Anyhow, diffusing for just a minute or two with a baby is more than enough in a closed room. Also, have you considered looking at his excess mucus from an ayurvedic standpoint? He is exhibiting a Kapha imbalance, as you describe it in the email. Lime may be very helpful for him, along with other citrus essential oils as they offset Cold/Wet aspects of Kapha. You could try some essential oils on cotton balls under his crib at night, or if you are really into diffusing, try lime, orange, etc. for just a minute or two. Guest guest
Hi Evelyn, It sounds like your son was part of a Reiki Share. A Reiki Share is where several praticioners get together and work with eachother and/or other individuals who go to the Reiki Share for energy/healing work. Being worked on by several praticioners at once can be an incredible experience. Guest guest
I never knew too much about alternative medicine of any kind but Greg used to have a boarder who was a Reiki master. Greg went to a meeting once where they did a Reiki ceremony. I can't remember what it was called. Because of Greg's Aids he was feeling very poorly at the time and he said that it did help him tremendously. Maybe someone else can tell what exactly this ceremony was but if it helped him I was all for it. I'm open minded. Just because something doesn't Have a pharmacy label on it doesn't make it bad or non productive.
