Guest guest
I was pressured into getting my first 2 sons circ, I had them when I was 19 and 20. I just had my 3rd son last yr at the age of 35 and my MIL just about had a fit that he isn't going to be like his brothers and father. I had him to his dr a couple of weeks ago, and it looks like he might have to be done after all. His foreskin is very tight and his ped thinks is going to be a problem. As a mom who agonized over this decision, this is defintely something I didn't want to hear.. Rahnny
Guest guest
Hi Tammy--The percentages of uncirced and circed are now closer to 50/50, so that shouldn't be a problem in future. Just wanted to put that out there in case anyone is expecting and trying to decide! :-) Tracy *Some people only dream of angels; we held one in our arms.* Remembering Jacob March 8 - 9, 1996 Our Angel: http://sids-network.org/fp/jacob.htm - tammy Tuesday, May 04, 2004 12:34 PM Re: Circ or not to Circ... The following contains a " YECH " Kathleen,I have been a nurse for many years and have seen a circumcision done. It is indeed very painful and stressful for a baby.At the time I had my boys I was a new nurse and still a little unsure of myself. If I had been a little more assertive at the time I think I would have insisted on it being done with an anesthetic. All it would take is a small injection at the base of the penis.I dont understand why men wouldnt be a little more sympathetic to this.that being siad, I woudl still circumcise.the majority of male babies are circumsised at birth.I have read instances where some mothers dont have it done, and the man later in life, feels " different " from others and opts to have it done then. from what I have heard it is much more problematic as an adult.its a big decision to make, and I would encourage the mother to research and also talk with the doctor. Guest guest
Here is a page with a LOT of links to circumcision info. http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/circumci.html I have 2 un-circ'd boys and I did a ton of research to make that decision. I personally couldn't find any good reason TO circ' my boys. If they want it done later in life, they can have it done, but they can't have it undone. If they choose to have it dome some day for religious reasons, then it will truly be something spiritual to them. Rahnny, if I were you I'd do a lot of investigating before I believe the tight foreskin thing being a problem due to the fact that foreskins don't usually retract until boys are far older than one year old anyway - sometimes not until they are school age! http://www.drgreene.com/21_58.html http://www.earthtym.net/newborns.htm *Smile* Chris (list mom - VERY far behind on the list mail of the past few days) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Rahn68 [Rahn68] I was pressured into getting my first 2 sons circ, I had them when I was 19 and 20.
