Guest guest
Okay, okay....my daughter gave birth to a son (my first grandchild) on April 3. I (as well as the other set of grandparents) urged her to " circ " Jordan. There were many reasons for this. First of all, Jordan was only 2 days old when they had this done, and even though it probably hurt, he would not remember the pain. Secondly, Jordan's dad (Krysti and David are not married) was born in Guatamala, where circs are not normally done. David was adopted by his parents when he was 5 months old; the child weighed 5 pounds at 5 months (he had a cleft palate, and nourishing him was a problem at that point). When he got to the States, David's adoptive parents looked into having a circ done, and because of his other health issues, no doctor would do it. Consequently, Krysti has constant yeast infections. When she was in labor with Jordan, she was on IV antibiotics for Group B Strep in the vagina. She had to have two bags of antibiotics before Jordan was born to erase the strep infection. I know the yeast infections are at least 98% because David is not circ'd. As for the Group B Strep....well, that's anybody's guess. If boys and young men are educated in proper cleaning, it shouldn't be a problem. But for those who are lazy in hygiene, it is a problem, not only to themselves, but for their significant others. Part of the reason for not having a child circ'd is that most insurance companies consider it " cosmetic " and will not cover the cost of circumcision (in our case it was ~$300). That's my 2 cents worth.. Barb
