I, too, have two uncirced boys...one is four and the other almost two- and neither of their foreskins have retracted yet...which is NOT a problem. Neither have had infection problems... I dont see how it could be possible that our natural design be so " imperfect " that a part needs removal, due to " aesthetics " ... Also- babies DO remember things that happen to them when they are tiny...so that theory doesnt hold water. As far as feeling different- at this time- 99% of the people I know didnt circ their boys...so that is pretty much a moot point, too. As far as religious circumcisions, I am in no place to say anything about that- as it isnt part of my religion...*I* dont understand it, though... michelle
Guest guest
I'm new here, but also felt a need to jump in on this one. I have 3 sons (19, 17 and 14). The first 2 were born in the hospital and the 3rd at home. The first one was circumcised with no thought to it at all. (I was young and dumb). The second was circumcised because I didn't want him to be different than his father and brother. Well, with my 3rd, because he was born at home, doing a circ was a major event. They handle it like surgery. I would have to not nurse him for the night. Bring him in and hand him over to doctors and nurses and then he would be put under. Much thought and prayer went into our decision. But the biggest thing I did was talk to my father and brother. My father was NOT circumcised and my brother WAS. I asked my father about problem and infections and I asked them both if they ever felt different (my dad because he wasn't circumcised and my brother because he looked different than my dad). After hearing them both out, we made a decision not to circumcise my 3rd son. He has never had any problems. We taught him very young how to wash himself (and rinse) properly. Also, he has never felt strange about his difference. We have always been open and honest about discussing the fact that he had a different birth experience and thus was not circumcised. We told him we felt it was an unnecessary surgery that we didn't want to put him through. So far, we have never regretted that decision.
