Guest guest
I'm new to all this. I just recently picked up a few books and ordered some E/O's. I am using some from a company that makes a skin care line and I've been thrilled with it. But here is where I really need some help from all you experts. I'm 44 and lately experiencing terrible symptoms of perimenopause. (Doctors are of no help because they just want to medicate me). I have heart palpations, anxiety, nervousness and even my blood pressure spikes. I also get terrible headaches that last a week to 10 days with each cycle. I'm rather a high strung personality any way, but I'm working on trying to learn to relax. Do you have any suggestions on a good mixture of E/O's for the above? Or any other " natural " suggestions? Any help would be so appreciated. Nora ....while he was still a long distance away, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. Guest guest
Nora, This is not an answer on EO's for perimenopause, but I suggest you read " The Sexy Years " by Suzanne Somers. It is an eye-opener on perimenopause and menopause. Warmly, Bobbye , " nora-brown " <nora- brown@s...> wrote: > I'm new to all this. I just recently picked up a few books and ordered some E/O's. Guest guest
Nora, Your symptoms are of a character that is perfectly normal - but only you can judge when they are too severe, or too long lasting. Your new entry into the world of aromatherapy is very admirable. Your skepticism about the 'medicate first -ask questions later' world of western medicine is very intelligent. Please consider that professional or self treatment with essential oils may be a wonderful part of your overall program, but PLEASE seek out a professional to help you through this time. There are many components of a program to help you enjoy your passage through this change in body chemistry: Diet, excercise, relaxation, supplementation, herbs, aromatherapy, . . . the list goes on. A good ND should be able to give you an overview of your options, and help you find the appropriate help when, where, and only if you need it. I guarantee you will find many who will tell you this herb or that oil is the only thing you will need. Well, it may have been the one thing that individual needed, but it may not be what you need. Too many people try an herb (or oil, or something else) recommended by a friend and suffer greatly because it was not the right one for them. There are many wonderful possibilities. If you are a self experimenter (and a good record keeper), there is a great deal to try. You will find the members of this list have excellent experiences to share, and you will get some wonderful ideas of what to try. But please consider finding a professional to help. Guest guest
Hi Nora, Welcome to the list, we're glad to have you aboard Neroli is a really good oil for anxiety issues. It blends well with lavender, which is pretty relaxing, and also blends very nicely with citrus rind scents such as tangerine, which is also relaxing, so that might be a nice blend for you try out. Also, there are a lot of folks on this list who have been talking about having good results with brief sniffs of vitex oil for their menopausal (and pms) complaints. That might be one to consider adding to the blend too. I personally like diffusing/sniffing a combination of rosemary and lavender for helping headaches. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com nora-brown [nora-brown] I'm new to all this. Guest guest
Another really good book on the menopausal years is .... " Menopausal Years - The Wise Woman Way " by Susun Weed While I'm not menopausal, I got it for my mom some years back when she first started " the change " and there is a lot of helpful, holistic info in there. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com bwstegen [bwstegen] Nora, This is not an answer on EO's for perimenopause, but I suggest you read " The Sexy Years " by Suzanne Somers. Guest guest
Thank you all who sent me information on different herbs and oils that are helpful in dealing with perimenopause. I've been doing a lot of reading. Thanks again! What a helpful board to be on. Nora ....while he was still a long distance away, his father saw him coming. Everyone's body chemistry is different and you need to find out what works best for you. This way you are not trying all these different things that may mask other things going on in your body. I use Lavendery Hydrosol to keep myself less high strung and I have chaste tree hydrosol that I use when I have a hot flash. I was on loads of medication for many different health problems. I finally got fed up with all of it and feeling bad all the time and I have taken myself off ALL medications and I am finally starting to feel much better. So good luck to you in your search for what will work for you. ===== Cheryl Smith A Heavenly Body Anchorage AK 99508 (907) 222-0886 http://www.aheavenlybody.com Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at HotJobs http://hotjobs.sweepstakes./careermakeover
