I'm a bit leery of bee stings as me aunt is anaphylactic and my mother blows up like a beach ball... me, last time I was stung el-quacko told me to keep an epi-pen with me... I trust to luck! :-) I want to thank you for all the suggestions... Onions never crossed me mind and although it should have, neither did mud/clay. Poor wee mite, had to pull le-stinger out too. Guest guest
If the stinger is possibly still in Adolphs Meat Tenderizer is the best thing...I use it for all stings and it takes the sting out of it.....other then that only time is the thing that helps... Guest guest
Hi K, Seen everyone has given advice. Sure hope he is fine. Nancy signs of being a bit allergic to the sting... this is my 2.5 year old. I put ice on it and gave him a teaspoon of benydryl, poor little mite is miserable.. toe is mightily swollen, hot to the touch and so is the top part of his foot. Keeping an eye on him, any other suggestions would be appreciated... Cheers! Kathleen Petrides

Guest guest
I stepped on a bee when I was 13....had to walk the 1/2 block home. By the time I got home, foot was swollen clear up to the knee. My dad made a paste of water and baking soda and put it on bee sting. He cleaned off " old " paste and put on new paste every hour for about 5 or 6 hours. It worked very well. Dad told me I was allergic to bees and to watch out for them. Believe, me, I did....until I was 7 months pregnant with second child. A bee got in my shirt...I was so paranoid, I stripped the shirt off in front of a picture window (wasn't thinking too clearly at that point, and frankly, didn't care!). Bee stung me anyway. I remember thinking, " I have no car (hubby was gone w/car), I have two little girls here, I'm pregnant, AND I AM ALLERGIC TO BEES! " I scraped the stinger out with a credit card, put on a goodly amount of soda paste, and all it ever did was swell to the size of a dime. Dad says that he used mud when he was a kid (he grew up on a farm in Iowa), but Mom wouldn't let him use mud on me.... Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hey Dale, Welcome back to the list. :-) > Well, in the hollers they treat bee stings by putting a wad of warm, wet > tobacco right out of a cigarette on the sting. Supposed to draw out the ... > whatever it is that actually causes the reaction....histamine? That's perzackly right .. and its perzackly what it does. Its a dang scientific fact that backer juice will draw out the whatever. ;-) Long its been used down home .. but getting stung by bees and such was just a normal occurrence .. we didn't know about any danger when I was a yonker .. leastways I never heard of it back then. We were always sorta worried about rabies cause we younguns was always getting bit by them critters we caught .. rats and mice and baby ground hawgs and squirrels and chipmunks and stray dawgs and katz .. to name a few. > Keep a very close watch on him.
