I mailed some stuff (mostly all my oils and toiletry stuff) here before I left for the west coast. I sent it regular mail, not priority. It took over a month to get here, and the boxes were in BAD shape.... Priority mail seems to take a bit longer to get to me here than it did in the states, right around a week. My lazy self hasn't mailed anything home yet, so i can't attest to that. My biggest issue is that many many many (too many) companies won't ship to APO addys. And UPS won't ship here. I _think_ I can get fed ex at the fed ex station, but will have to look into. But I can't just have fed ex show up at my doorstep. Here another good one. When I do things like, oh - change my mailing address online with the USPS, there is NO drop down state option for AP - or any state other than the 50!!! Makes it darn hard to change my address! And it'a not just USPS - most companies online use that drop down, pre-filled state option, so I cannot fill in APO, AP for city and state. WTH?!? It drives me NUTS!!! So, my online ordering options are pretty limited, that's why is was asking - that and the fact I'd rather give my bisness to list folks anyway. Still loving S. Korea. The people are very nice, have a fascinating culture, and GREAT food!!! There going to be a rough few weeks coming up as we hash out the troop issues - there will be some protests at the gate, some ugliness directed at westerners. But for the most part, it's contained in the protests, and the average Koreans you meet are extremely nice and friendly. :-) JenB >
Guest guest
Hi Jen, > Are there any herb suppliers on this list that would be willing to > ship USPS priority mail to an APO address? My comment has nothing to do with herbs .. but on shipping to APO and/or FPO addresses. Having used and APO address this time since 1988 .. and having used them for more than half my adult life .. I know that there is no difference in the handling of mail. Air goes air and sea goes sea and sometimes a letter sent today will arrive 3 days after one sent two days from now .. its all in how Uncle Sugar can arrange the pickups out of New York and (normally) San Francisco .. and a few other locations. I tell folks that .. the Post Offices should tell them but I guess some don't know. I often receive overnight and other rapid delivery USPS items a week to ten days after mailing. The sender wasted their cash. This also holds true for courier services .. FedEx and such .. because even though APO & FPO addresses are US Military .. the mail can still be checked by Customs in the country its going to .. and often is. Mail from us to the USA almost always beats mail from the USA to us. I guess that's because Uncle Sugar gives us priority on this end and local Customs doesn't care what we are sending out of country. Mail to the combat zones is getting priority now .. as it should. That tasks the system for mail heading to this part of the world .. but we accept it and keep smiling. :-) > Any anyone who sells vanilla beans? Chris used to .. might still .. she should be back tomorrow night. > Please contact me off list - thanks! > > JenB Y'all keep smiling too. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com Who lives outside the USA .. but runs a wholesale/retail operation in Maryland .. and who ships 3-4 times a week to APO/FPO addresses. :-)
