Guest guest
Just thought I'd let you all know the results of my incense tinkering. Here's what we did: Ground up a bunch of French lavender buds in a coffee grinder. Sifted the powder from the fiber as much as possible. Mixed 2/3 to 1/3 with red sandalwood powder. Then weighed and added 25% makko. Dampened with lavender hydrosol, and added some lavender EO. We kneaded until pliable - I think kneading is important to incorporate and break down plant fibers in fiberous things like lavender. Formed into cones and pyramids and other assorted shapes. We let them sit over night, and most shapes still need more drying time, but we did burn a long rectangle that had dried. It has a rather harsh burning smell, due to all of the plant fiber in the lavender, but the after smell was extremely pleasant. All in all I am pleased and excited to make more. Wish I would have thought of it before. However, supporting the nice folks at Rainbow meadows isn't a bad thing either. I know scentsoftheearth.com sells anything related to incense, and has GREAT info too. I can't wait to try out more blends! JenB
