Guest guest
<< Martin Sheen does get a bit confused at times .. isn't he the one with drugs are working on his mind .. maybe I confused him with someone else. But he is certainly not likely to make any pro-American statements since he gets his butt locked up from time to time for breaking laws when he is into his " activist " role. If we don't have laws then we have chaos. Another story. Butch >> Butch, Martin Sheen has a son who is known to dabble in drugs. He is clean. Makes a fine President Bartlett on TV Dr. Helen Caldicott, a physician, started a group, many years ago, that's called Physicians for nuclear Responsibility. She is no kumbaya singing, save the world, treehugger*, but a very serious Scientist and physician. The first one who openly talked about the dangers of law level radiation. Another one of my favorite women is Dr. Rosalie Bertell, a nuclear scientist and a nun. She was hired by the American Cancer Society to get to the bottom of nuclear emissions of low level radiation around nuclear plants and when she found there was a substantial risk in regards to low birthweight, miscarriages and certain cancers, they cut her funding. A very sweet little old lady and I felt honored to stand in a prayer circle with her. C-M, * proud to be called a treehugger
Guest guest
Hey Vicki, > Hi JenB > WOW! > > Thank you for sharing that with us:-)) > >>Mind if I debate with you a little on this point? :-P >> >>To say Washington was a " pious man, " well, we might need to define >>what " pious " is. > > You've put a great deal of effort into this post so I hope you managed to > enjoy at least some of your holiday! > > It sure puts a different spin on what many people would have us believe:-)) For sure it put a different spin on the subject .. but I'm not sure that Jen or you really understand what my point was .. or why I made the short statement in the first place. What I would have you " believe " I have covered in my reply to Jen. > Vicki (thankful that there are dissenters in our midst) Seems to me the above is like .. as opposed to what? Did you think that there were only nodding heads on this list? Did you think folks on the list were bullied or something like that? I ask because I read your comment that way and I might be wrong. I know you've not been a list member long but you've been long enough to see some HEAVY disagreements a time or three. ;-) Disagreeing is what its all about .. but we must be careful to not try to be disagreeable or personal and TRY dump on those we disagree with .. tis better to deal with the messages than it is the personality of the bearer of the message. And .. it seems to me I had far more important and controversial points in my post that one could have used as a jumping off point if they wanted to exercise their right of dissent. I would have enjoyed responding to them. :-) > PS I saw a fabulous program last week about anti nuclear campaigner and > author, Dr Helen Caldicott. There was a brief interview with Martin Sheen > who expressed the sentiment that he was glad that Iraquis will now have the > right to dissent, but now he wasn't so sure about his own rights to do the > same.
