Guest guest
I actually wonder about this too, b/c i have a ton of soap shavinigs from beveling my soaps that I'd like to put to good use. My question would be whether it is ok for it to be superfatted soap that I use. Great for the skin, but I can't imagine too great for laundry, LOL! While I'm at it, here's another soap question. Pregnancy brain has set in big time, and I botched my first batch of soap ever. Not quite sure how I did it after making soap for 2.5 years now, but it is extrememly lye heavy. Would that be convertable into laundry soap somehow? I hate to toss it, but I know I can't use it on the skin. Guest guest
I use the recipe from Rita's website at http://www.tlcsoaps.com/recipgs.htm I've asked Rita if I could post the recipe here, but she would like me to just post the link. The recipe I use is for the Recycled Laundry Soap Powder. She says that if you don't have the Washing Soda to use 1/2 Borax and 1/2 Baking Soda, but I've used 1 cup Borax with no problems. I also just use the Orange EO instead of her blend. Oh, and yes, you can use lye heavy soap. It works really well!! ME!!! <Waving wildly>>> I grew up with homemade laundry soap and I love it. I make the solid type and grate it. Then add boiling water to the " pail " which creates a rather thick gel. However, when I take the next few day off work, I will be making liquid laundry soap. -Helen

Guest guest
I make laundry soap by taking the shavings off my bars of soap, about an average of 5 bars, cover with water to melt. (usually put on low heat to make the process faster. Then I fill a 5 gal pail with water and to this I add 2 cups borax, 2 cups washing soda, 2 cups of color safe bleach. Stir this into pail of water, Usually use a stick blender in the top portion to make sure I have it all in liquid then I pour in the melted bar soap , once again I stir with a long spoon and the stick blender to make sure I have it all blended togather. Makes a real nice Gel. I pour it into gallon jugs and when I need to do Laundry I use a cup of gel with a little vinegar in final rinse... Could put a little orange oil in for additional cleaning. I got this receipe form another list. HTH. Ida - Helen <worth249 > > > How many of you make laundry soap. Guest guest
Washing Soda is just that. I get it in the Laundry detergent section of my local United Grocery Store. It is in the Yellow box and the baking Soda is in the orange box with the baking goods. I really had to look before I found it though. United is the only place I have found it. It is really a laundry booster. Ida - C.
