Guest guest
Coffee isnt going to help hon, actualy its going to seep it in worse, coffee is heavy so it grounds the smell. what you need is Jasmine, Lemon, or Tomataoe and Lemon juice and squirte it around. then spray a couple of hours later with air freshener. Hope that helps, been there done the skunk thing,I hope this helps you out. Guest guest
Have any charcoal? Might help to put out several bowls full. If it were on people I would suggest bathing in Tomatoe Juice, or sponge bath, hehe...but an outdoor area, the charcoal is all I can think of. Guest guest
I've heard that folks who get skunked should take a tomato juice bath .. maybe that would help the area that was skunked too? If I find out anything else I'll pass it along! Good luck!!!! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Christa Maria [cmaria] WE have a wedding on saturday, people are coming in from all over as houseguest and a skunk decided to let off his scent right by my house. Guest guest
Thanks, guys... I know about tomato juice etc, if it's on a dog or so... Can't figure out where the skunk 'skunked'. could be next door , down the hill... It's just wafting in and out through the house,, That's what I need to control !!!!! Need to make a combo deoderizer and diffuse it... Sigh... C-M
Guest guest
In a message dated 8/11/04 6:30:37 PM Central Daylight Time, reneev writes: They think this works better than the commercial products they sell. 1 qt. 3% hydrogen peroxide1/2 cup baking soda1 teaspoon dishwashing soap I used this formula yesterday after the first attack Just a quick response to this. This formula does work on the dog and anything else that you can wash. Just don't package it and try to keep it in a closed container. The problem exists in that the skunk scent permeates the air and that aroma hangs around for a good while. Our dog was sprayed last night and we have been spraying room deodorizers in the house and burning incense for almost 24 hours. It's better, but not sure if the scent is dissipating on its own, we are getting used to it, or the room sprays and incense are helping. Guest guest
Hi C-M I'm no help to you but I sure hope you get it sorted soon. > WE have a wedding on saturday, people are coming in from all over as > houseguest and a skunk decided to let off his scent right by my house. > It's permeating inside all over... > I am too frazzled to think clearly. A question for other list members - I've never seen a skunk and know next to nothing about them. Does the smell stay around for days? Do you often see them in a domestic situation, near towns etc or are they mainly only seen in the forests (what we call " the bush " )? Thanks in advance Vicki
Guest guest
Hery C-M, here's a post that just came to my pet list. Hope it helps. Thanks all for the suggestions! You won't believe this but Maggie was sprayed again last night! I called my groomer yesterday and she referred me to her vet's office. This is the formula they recommended. They think this works better than the commercial products they sell. 1 qt. 3% hydrogen peroxide1/2 cup baking soda1 teaspoon dishwashing soap I used this formula yesterday after the first attack. Last night, I soaked her in the tomato juice, rinsed, then repeated with the above formula. When using the above formula, it works best to get the dog wet, than apply. This formula foams a lot and seems to stay on the dog fairly well. It much less messy and seems to work better than the tomato juice. I've told my hubby, Maggie will not be going outside after dark without us taking her on a chain in the future!! I m going back to the drug store today to purchase more hydrogen peroxide --- told hubby I'm going to purchase a case of the stuff!!Irene samala Renee To Volunteer: FriendsofJJK Website: www.JohnJosephKennedy.com To Donate: CLICK HERE TO DONATE ---- I know about tomato juice etc, if it's on a dog or so... Guest guest
When my dog got sprayed last year, we went to a groomers. She said to soak the dog with water. Then whole milk. It worked faster and better then anything we have ever tried before. HTH Nancy Hery C-M, here's a post that just came to my pet list. Hope it helps.
