Guest guest
Dorothy, Sounds like athletes foot to me. Maybe some Tinactin? Athletes foot will peel and become very dry and rough if it goes untreated. And unfortunately people try to treat it with oils and such and that only makes it worse. The feet need to stay dry and clean, most of all she needs to disinfect her shower every time she bathes, spray it with some Clorox and let it sit or it will stay on the shower floor. sindy -----Original Message affliction to the feet Hello again everyone, Her feet are sore and the skin is rough and peeling. I have not seen them but she describes them as flakey or scaly. ..
Guest guest
Hi Dorothy, Well, it doesn't really sound like Athlete's Foot to me, which usually shows up as little tiny clusters of itchy burning blisters ... but in any case tea tree and lavender might be good in a foot soak, and added to a foot powder as they are both antiseptic and help fight against bacteria and fungal issues ... AS for being unsubbed .. I have no idea why that happened?!?! I sure didn't unsub you <grinz> If the problem persists, let me know and I'll complain to *Smile* Chris (list mom - off to fight with Fed Ex, do chores, and will post more info about comfrey, yarrow, etc .. later in the day) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Dorothy [db] Hello again everyone, A friend of mine has something on the bottom of her feet and she is not sure what it might be. She just got back from a camping trip where she walked around a lot of the time barefoot and thinks perhaps that she came into contact with something then. She is not sure what it might be exactly. Her feet are sore and the skin is rough and peeling. I have not seen them but she describes them as flakey or scaly. I don't know if they are weepy. This is the same girl who had the plantars wart (which by the way disappeared with the use of a combination of oils and some duct tape). I am wondering about doing a blend for her to try on the bottom of her feet. I am unsure if you remember but, she has no medical plan to cover prescription medications and has recently lost her job so over the counter remedies are likely not really possible either. I was wondering however if any of you have any suggestions for blends to use. I was thinking of a diluted blend of tea tree and lavender but am wondering about adding another oil or oils to speed healing. I am thinking adding carrot and rose hip to add to the carrier oil. I would be pleased to hear what any of you think, besides obvious " don't go walking barefoot in places where you don't know what is underfoot " thanks in advance for any suggestions, Dorothy P.S. as a side note, I don't know how it happened but somehow, I became d to this group!?!?!? Chris is there some reason for this happening?
Guest guest
I guess its possible that its Athlete's Foot ... But treating with Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Lavender isn't a bad thing (and I bet Lavandula stoechas would be really good for this since it is more antiseptic than the L. angustifolia variety), as long as it is well diluted. I think a lot of folks hear the rumor that Tea Tree and Lavender oils are safe to use neat and then they go pouring it onto their already stressed out skin and make it even more unhappy! But yes, cleaning the shower floor and floor areas around the shower is a great idea too! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com sindy anderson [sssoap] Dorothy, Sounds like athletes foot to me. Guest guest
In any case soaking the foot in Epsom salts would be a good idea. If there is an infection (of any kind) it will help relieve it. If there isn't then it could help prevent one. Guest guest
I have had great success with a soap made with Tea Tree and Lemongrass. Also, I make a lotion bar, with or without the tea tree and lemongrass. I didn't make it originally for athlete's foot....but several of my friends that have used both say that it got rid of their athlete's foot problems, even when prescription stuff didn't. I used quite a bit of both EO's in my soap, and I used them both at 10% dilution in the lotion bar. HTH, Candy in AL
