Guest guest
Hello All, My FIL recently underwent a quadruple bypass, after successful surgery the following day had loss of oxygen to the brain for 7 minutes. Now is suffering with tremendous myoclonus. He is in a rehab facility but they cannot do any rehab because of the excessive jerking. They have been unsuccessful with stoping the jerking without putting him completely to sleep with the drugs. This has been going on since November. Are there any safe alternatives that would help with the myoclonus so that he can indeed be comfortable and begin his rehab? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Tiare. Guest guest
Hi, I have completely no experience with myoclonus. I am Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner and I am telling you just what I would try in this situation. Sit at the feet. I would hold the inner ankle with one hand (just touch between ankle and heel) and hold toe per toe of that foot with the other (sandwich the toe between thumb and index). Hold the longest time at the big toe. The big toe stands for the middle of the head (and since the loss of oxygen in the brain I would stay there longer). Do the same with the outer ankle. Now I would hold the longest time at the little toe (this is the first step of a flow we do after stroke or for stroke prevention). As I advised to stay longer at one toe, I would say : hold 1 minute per toe, and hold 6 minutes at the longer-hold-toe, be it the big toe (or the little toe in the other case). That makes 20 minutes per foot. If you have 20 minutes, you do one foot, if you have 40, do both. The procedure is easy; if you have no time, and there are some visitors that go, explain them what to. The procedure can be done twice a day, try to keep about 8 hours between treatments. As treatments are shorter than one hour, the pause in between may be shorter. Don't exceed one hour for a treatment !!!! Maybe in the beginning it would be better to do only have an hour whatsoever. In case of a stroke, I had one patient that showed himself that it was enough for that treatment after about half an hour. Apart from that, holding the index finger, and holding the little finger are interesting helpers too, the index has connections with the heart, and the ring finger has connections with the groin (outside of the pubic bone). This region of the body again is connected with the heart and also helps for recovery after operations. If you find a jin shin jyutsu practitioner in the neigbourhood, it might be helpful to involve one, for they would work more according to the things they see or feel in the body. Some interesting site might be : jsjinc.net, the international site. If you want to find a practitioner in your neighbourhood, maybe call or ask the center in Scottsdale, and ask if they can give an address. If the explanations are not clear, please inform me. Hope this might help, God bless you and your FIL.
