Anne.. cow's milk that is not raw has not a single drop of calcium in

it that is assimable by the human body. The process of pasteurization

kills the very constituents (phosphitate)that would help the body use

the calcium. Besides this fault, it is full of growth hormone and

antibiotics that are children just dont need in their diets. the whole

milk lie/deception was perpetrated by government/lobbyists/dairy

farmers and force fed to the people thru the free milk program in our

schools.

I shudder at the thought of

powdered milk as you describe in your other post, Anne! I was raised on

that as well, and my teeth can prove that it was not adequate!

To my knowledge sesame seeds are some of the highest foods in calcium.

My kids love them. Dark leafy greens contain calcium, as well as beans.

Again, I ensure my kids get one of these daily. Vitamin D can be

obtained from sunlight alone. There is no reason why a child shouldn't

get sufficient sunlight.

There are always healthy alternatives, and they work better with our

body's design.

While I very much respect your position, this group has specific rules

and I seek to have them observed for the good of all members.

Respectfully- and friendly!,

Hi Raine: that is your opinion and I respect it.

My opinion is that some children need extra Milk for Calcium.

The other good thing about Cow;s Milk is it has *Vitmain D*.

Vitamin D ia an extrmely important Vitamin that is "Essential".

Without adequate Calcium a child could get "Ricketts".

"Ricketts is a Nutritional Disorder where the Legs do not grow in

a "bow-legged pattern" instead of straigt and long.

*Ricketts can be prevented 100% with adequate *Calcium and Vit. D*>

*Ricketts is more prevelant in 3rd world countries.

summary: *Cow's Milk prevents Ricketts; that's why I recommend it; esp.

for Growing Children; Ricketts is Irreversible once gotton.

There is a child in my neighborhood right now with "bowed legs" also

called Ricketts. Apparnttly the Mother does not give child cow;s milk.

I am not here to argure just to state facts.

Fact: A Lack of Calcium and Vitamin D can cause "Bowed legs and other

bone and leg deformities. I even recommend it for adults.

But remember this: this is an open foum and I state my ideas. Anne.---

You nailed it right on the head! Any cow milk consumed must come from a raw source. That's the only way we drink ours.

Not if you live in the NW. We don't see the sun for many months at a time during the winter season. In addition to raw cow's milk, we take Carlson Cod Liver Oil capsuls during the winter months which contain vitamin A and D. During the summer, we switch to Zone Perfect Cod Liver Oil which does not contain vitamin D.

Vitamin D is fortified in milk, it does not occur naturally. Sunshine and dark, green vegetables provide our bodies with adequate amounts. Calcium, that our bodies easily absorb, occurs in beans, nuts, seeds, dark green vegetables, blackstrap molasses, maple syrup, and in numerous other foods you should be consuming everyday. A teaspoon of blackstrap molasses is suppose to contain 40 percent of our daily calcium needs. And that's without the growth hormones and antibiotics! As was posted a few days ago, sugar leaches out the minerals in our bodies. All those sodas Americans drink could easily be responsible for health problems. Not to mention the problems with consuming too much caffeine. It's amazing that in Asian countries where cow milk is rarely consumed every one isn't falling over from brittle bones or walking around with deformed legs. Where do they get their calcium??? The only place I hear anything good

about cow milk is from the dairy industry. Who, by the way, is in trouble for false advertising. It was just too much for them to claim milk as a weight loss beverage.Of course, this is just my opinons and research.Anne <annroc2004 wrote: Hi Raine: that is your opinion and I respect it. I was reading somewhere that our bodies store away extra vitamin D that we gain from the summer months. I couldn't find anything on this but when I do I'll be sure to post it. It makes since though because vitamin D is fat soluble. tmrwmr <graftedin wrote: Not if you live in the NW. We don't see the sun for many months at a time during the winter season. My doctor had me on 50,000 whatever's of vitamin D in the winter due to my low Vitamin d level and had me drinking a lot of milk ( I was already doing a gallon a day roughly not always quite so much. but the pills made me soo tired. I am now on 2k a day and cows milk goes bad in our house from the lack of use. I am almost ready to just not buy it.( might replace it with coconut milk, but only for cooking) weird huh. but I am a very very very very very light skinned person. ( I have a nick name of "snow white" not for the beauty part or black hair but light skin) But anyway I can't handle the outdoors and so my Vitamin D level is ridiculously low and the milk in the winter does help me. just my 5 cents. ;)
