Guest guest
PS you asked where the Asians get their Calcium? They get it from *TOFU or Soy-Bean Curds*. Soybeans have extremely high amounts of Calcium and high amounts of Protein; esp. if eaten in moderation. The Soybean is also high in Omegas. *Northern White Beans high CA*. Actually from what I understand The Soybean is the only known Bean on Earth that has *Complete Protein* usu. only found in Animals products; such as Milk eggs fish meat poultry etc. That is why some call Soy-Beans a Miracle Food. I do not understand what the problem with Soybenas is...alot of foods have Phyto-Estrogens(plant-hormones). Red-Clover leaf tea is brimming with Phyto-Estrogens lots more than in Soy mIlk and they sell Red-Clover extract for a " pretty penny " . to Doc: I thought Women; which I am; needed more Estrogen as they get older not less; so what is the problem with me drinking Soy-Milk? Which is better Cow's Milk and Cheese or SoyMilk and Tofu? You say Cow's Milk is not good and neither is Soymilk. What is your opinion on eating Eggs as a Meat; Poultry; Fish substitute? So what Milk is good for a long term Vegetarian such as myself; since I do not eat any *Meat Fish Fowl or Crustacean* at all under any circumstances due to respect for the Animals. I tried living on just raw fruits and veggies once and got VERY " ill " ; (lost too much weight; became weak and underweight). I cannot afford to jeoporadize my Health with a low-protein diet. I guess Nut-Milks are a good Alternative but very expensive! Nut-butters sell for soemthing like $10 a small jar. Nuts themselves are OUTRAGEOUS in price. I eat a lot of Natural Peanut Butter. Suggestions welcome. Any information on *Sprouts* welcome also. As the Soils become depleted are food has less and less Nutrients. This is one of the reasons I recommend and do take Vitamin/Min. pills. As the Air becomes more polluted and are waters; we have to take more and more Nutrients and eat better diets such as Nuts; grapes; wheat- germ and Natural Health Foods like these to compensate. This is why the Dairy industries add *Vitamins A amd D to Milk* to compensate for the poor growing conditions of the Cow's forage. Guest guest
When I asked about Asians and their calcium sources I was just trying to make a point. Doc, I am also curious about your opinion on cow milk versus soy. If your interested in raw foods www.rawfoodtalk.com is a wonderful website for the beginner. It has inspired me to pursue the diet. When I get a dehydrator I want to give it a try.Anne <annroc2004 wrote: PS you asked where the Asians get their Calcium? They get it from *TOFU or Soy-Bean Curds*. Guest guest
Visit www.recipe.net.org/health/recipes/recipkit/raw_nut_butter.htm for nut and seed butter recipes. Don't know if it's the BEST way but it sounds good.I just assumed Cows' milk did not have vitamin D because it is fortified with it. I suppose the pasteurization process makes this necessary. After doing research on it though I found that in some cases the levels of Vit. D present are toxic. Of course, this was for pasteurized milk, not raw. I agree that if you do drink milk it is only useful if it is raw. Visit the websites I posted for B12 and other milk info. If you don't mind telling me, are you vegetarian for health or ethical reasons?Anne <annroc2004 wrote: Hi Trina: Question: "What's the best way to prepare *Nut-Butters*? I did a quick a quick search on the USDA Nutrient Database which is a US gov. sponsored Scientific Data Base of most Food and Nutrients. According to my search; *Cows' Milk and Goats' Milk have some naturally occuring *Vitamin D* but Sheeps Milk has no Vitamin D. (Buffalo Milk also has no Vitamin D) All four Milks; Goats; Cows and Sheeps and Buffalo Milk have *Adequate amounts of Vitamin A; Calcium and Adequate Protein. all the Milks also have some *Vitamin B12* in the items Naturally. I understand that the *Vitamin A contents of Milk* depend on the Quality of the Forage. For example; Summer Butter has lots more Vitamin A than Winter butter; this is because when the Cow grazes on the Summer grasses she gets more Vitamin A; the Hay in winter has much less Vitamin A. All Milk even Nut and Soy contain good sources of Complete Protein. So my Conclusion is: *Milk is a good avail. source of Nutrients; whether that be Cows' Milk; Sheeps' Milk; Goats' Milk; Soy Milk; and/ or Nu-t Milks such as Almond or Walnut Milks or Nut-Butters. Peanuts themselves are a high source of Protein and Calcium. The only Nutrient I can not get from Veggies is *Vitmain B12*. Note: *Organic Raw Milk does NOT have added Hormones etc.* See my point is this: As a Vegetarian I do not eat any Meat Fish Fowl and this has been my lifestyle for over 35 years. So if I did not eat any Meat Fish or Fowl or eggs or Milk...wouldn't I be malnourished? Comments and reply welcome. I would like to concentrate on Nut-Milks. herbal remedies , Trina Massengill <laurel1614 wrote: > > Vitamin D is fortified in milk, it does not occur naturally. Guest guest
Hi Trina, I'm also researching the raw diet. Just a matter of time now... -Raine P.S. You should be able to find a dehydrator for $5-10 at any thrift store. Trina Massengill wrote: When I asked about Asians and their calcium sources I was just trying to make a point.
