Guest guest
I realize this was addressed to Stuck but thought I'd comment. There is a specific blood test that determines Vitamin D levels in the body. My alternative health physician had me have this blood test and my level was the lowest he'd ever seen. I take Vitamin D3-5 Cholecalciferol - 5,000 I.U. a day plus cocanut oil. I already have osteoporosis and can't be in the sun as I supposedly have lupus/fibromyalgia or whatever. Hoping my level is better on the next blood test. Also can't drink milk ... won't drink milk as I believe its for cows not humans. Any other suggestions gratefully considered. Lynn . Guest guest
Hi Lynn: *All Fiah and Fish-Oil are naturally high in Vitamin D. Vitamin D2 is obtained from Fish Oil. The Vitamin D-3 you take is Synthetic Vitamin D made from Ergotsterols (from plants) and Ultra-Violet Light...go figure how they do that! The Vitamin D that is added to milk is usu. either *Vitamin D3 or Vitamin D2*. Vitamin D is actually a *Sterol* not a Vitamin but they call it a Vitamin because it is so important like a Vitamin is. The trick is to get enough Calcium with the Vitamin D. This is the way it was explained by an M.D, *Calcium is the Mineral that keeps your bones healthy and strong; and Vitamin D3 is the " Barge " that " transports that Vit. D in the system. Also I was " incorrect " that *Ricketts also called Bowed Legs* is caused by a Lack of Calcium; acutally *Ricketts is caused by a Lack of Vitamin D; or the " barge that transports the Calcium around " . It was just coincidental that I was watching the Natioanl Basketall Asc.(NBA) finals last night pre-game show. The announcer was explaining how one of the newest players(name?) when the player was a child the boy had " Bowed Legs " ; so the kid went under a operation where they " broke both his legs and re-set them.' Then the kid was in thigh and leg casts for four months. Then the doctors said one of the legs was still not " right:. So they " broke the kid's leg a second time and re-set that... " Finally after all that the boy recovered and now plays NBA Basketball! Chances are *Calcium with Fish-Oil could have prevented The Ricketts*. Notice: Breaking the legs and resetting is standard for " Ricketts " ; now do you see more of the reasons I do recommend Cow's or Soy-Milk? *herbal remedies , lynn sheer <bigotterwv wrote: > > I realize this was addressed to Stuck but thought I'd comment. Guest guest
Hi Anne & All, Not sure what Fiah (oils?) are but do know about fish oils. Part of my problem with Fish Oils is that I detest fish and wonder about taking them 'frozen' before bedtime. That is the only way I could think of that I could avoid the nasty aftertaste of fish. I use Flax & Coconut oils. Also wonder if specific herbs or essential oils would be beneficial. I use milk in cereal (to which I add my flax) and in coffee but don't drink it. Also I used 2% reduced fat milk so not sure it it has any value that way. I am appreciative of all suggestions re: these problems. Needing to get to the group files hopefully today and look up some of this. I am very happy with this group and have learned a few things I didn't know. Have heard about the urine therapy as well but am dubious. Some time in the recent past, I read of someone who was 'trapped' in someway (forgot circumstances) and drank his/her urine as a source of liguied. Thanks so much. Guest guest
I have only been on fish oils for a bit over a month, an I only taste fish when I take itw ith grape juice and or take it in the morning. i don't have any issues with water or milk and taking it at night. My MIl is HIGHLY allergic to iodine but her dr has her on fish oil and when she doesn't realize that is what she is taking it helps her a lot. but because of the fear of death when she is told what she is taking well she doesn't take it. but my husband is on it as wella nd never gets the fish burp. I would think freezing the pills would destroy something wouldn't it? in the pills? or the thaw n your stomack give you a stomack ache? I don't know just curiouse on that one. Guest guest
Have you tried DHA instead of fish oil? DHA is derived from blue-green algae, and my midwife told me it is safer for pregnant women and infants (fewer toxins, I guess.) And it doesn't " come back up on you. " :-) Go to the nutrition store and look for " Neuromins DHA. " Hope it helps your issue.jillOn 6/19/06, Stuck < Sstuck wrote: I have only been on fish oils for a bit over a month, an.........
