Aspartame: Is simply a combination of 2 amino acids. Known as a polypeptide. As the makers of it will tell you, it is simply a simple protein. No problems: Right? Total BULLS---! Here are the problems: 1) Peptides and proteins break down into amino acids in the gut. Aspartame, however, slowly breaks down in the soda can or box (much faster at higher temperatures). When a protein or peptide breaks down into its individual amino acids, the amino acids start to racemize. That means they remain the same subtance chemically in the test tube, but not in the body. The body only recognizes l-amino acids (if you go to a health food store and see a bottle of lysine, it will say l-lysine). The other form d-amino acids are not recognized by the body and are toxic. That is what happens with aspartame. 2) During the breakdown of aspartame in the can, a side reaction is methanol (wood alcohol). This

is toxic and your body converts it into formaldehyde and formic acid (the same chemical in fire ants that stings you). In spite of the propaganda that smal amounts are ok. I do not agree with that. SPLENDA: made from sugar right? Just like aspartame is a simple protein (other simple proteins are snake venom, botulism toxin etc). Splenda is sugar treated with chlorine. By substituting chlorine atoms at hydroxyl positions on the sugar molecule, it becomes unrecognized by the body. However, once in the body, those chlorine carbon bonds can break down forming free radicals which cause cancer and other severe problems.
