Since I did the total body cleanse and began doing all that walking a

month ago I have really enjoyed it. Recently, I tried running. I

found that I have the stamina to keep running the way I did as a

teenager (wow) - but I have a problem with my bladder. It is difficult

to run while I have to hold my bladder so tight in fear of wetting

myself! I'm 46 and I've had this 'muscle' problem since having three

kids.

 

What is the best way to strengthen the bladder sphincter(sp) muscle?

How long will strengthening that muscle take??? A couple weeks? - a

month? - 6 months??? I have no idea.

 

Would a personal trampoline be a good idea or should I just start out

running for short distances until it strengthens. Any ideas and

experiences would be most appreciated. I'm kinda clueless on this

one ;)

I have no idea.I think the muscle you are referring to is the Keigel Muscle. The same one that tightens when you orgasm is the same one that helps control your bladder. You may want to try Keigel exercises, where you just tighten and relax the muscle. These are done about 10 minutes on, 5 minutes off, for 30 minutes. Be sure you run with completely empty bladder. It helps a lot. Women hate do pee (and it is an ordeal compared to men), so we tend to hold the urine, forcing bladder sphincter. Pay attention to that. Empty your bladder, do not forget , this will make it improve a lot, even though might sound stupid. Ane*

HI Monica , do you remember Kiegel exercises? they are really good

for strengthening the SP muscle..also Pilates really would help

too..b/c it focuses on strength from the abdominal area( girdle of

strength it is referred as) as for length till strength.. isn't that

the question we all have? Depends what you put into it...keep at it

Monica...we are all doing the TBC here week #2...
