Guest guest
I have a bunch of walnut trees here and have been wanting to harvest them. Now I found out how, but you are supposed to use only whole green ones. Most of the walnuts that fall have some brown on them already and they are cracked. Can I still use these? I know the ones that are completly smashed are out, but I wanted to make sure it is ok to use the other ones. The nice ones are few and far between. Sorry for the ????, but I'm new to this. Guest guest
No, no, no! You want them to be dark brown to black not green. Pick up the ones that have fallen, put them in a brown paper bag and store in a dark cool dry cupboard or closet. Don't worry about how they look. They'er gonna look a little raunchy naturally. If the hull has split and dropped the nut on the ground but is still hanging in there on the branch you can pick these.
