The Rabbit Hole Café – For Sale 425 Cleveland Street Clearwater, Florida 33755 727-447-5282 I bet you’d like to know where this name came from so I’ll tell you. When Doc first got interested in computers, he’d go into his office and disappear for hours and hours. It became a family joke when anyone would ask “Where’s Doc?”, we would reply “He’s down the Rabbit Hole.” This came to mean we did not know how long he’d be or when he’d return. This went on for many years. When we decided to open our Café / Healthfood Store, we got ideas from friends and people as to what we should name the Café. While the list was being compiled, someone suggested “The Rabbit Hole”. When we did our survey of all the names, you guessed it, The Rabbit Hole won hands down. We were very happy with the outcome of the vote and began creating the place that would bear this name. Of course, many people can’t think of a Rabbit Hole and not think of “Alice In Wonderland”. So we decided to create a magical, fantasy atmosphere. It was Doc’s idea to have the front of the Café realistic - well almost with the exception of a surprise door in the front that opens into a spooky “Lord of the Rings” scene with the Hobbits Sam & Frodo, Golum, Mt. Doom, The Tower of Baradur, and a Ringwraith. As you look around inside the front door of the Café, you will see a beautiful tooled leather guitar stool and beside it, a beautiful sounding guitar waiting to be played anytime. You will also see the murals on the front walls that depict the Gulf of Mexico to the West and a stone wall, chickens, a ledge and green hills, fences and roads to the East. You then transcend into the world Alice experienced when she fell into the Rabbit Hole. When you approach the middle of The Rabbit Hole, you will experience very large mushrooms looming over your head and making you feel small indeed. While you gaze upward, you’ll see the Caterpillar sitting on a mushroom smoking his Hookah pipe. A bit farther along the path you notice that Humpty Dumpty is sitting high on his wall and looking down at you. Alice and her friends can be seen over the back courtyard window engaged in their Tea Party while the Cheshire cat peers down from his corner perch on a tree limb. The motif is very comfortable and natural with our all wood floors, tile accents and wooden displays. The tables and chairs are high quality wrought iron and made in the United States. They give an airy, open feeling to the overall ambiance of our all-natural, organic healthfood Café. Our kitchen is open and convenient and lends a warm friendly feeling for our guests who come to the register to order their food. We are proud that our Café serves 100% organic food that is prepared to order. Our staff bake and prepare a grain and bean soup that is soaked (or sprouted) ahead of time. This soup is made at least once a day if not more often. The small batches of our baked goods and soups make for unsurpassed quality and freshness. All of our veggie sandwiches are prepared to order. They are never made ahead. There is absolutely no white sugar or white flour in the entire café and store. We search long and hard for those products that are 100% organic and sprouted. All water used for tea, coffee, ice, soup, etc. is distilled and part of the permanent equipment is an ultra high quality beautiful stainless steel commercial water distillery. We do not ever use City water. Perhaps the biggest surprise of all is our delightful, cozy courtyard out back. There are two wonderful shade trees, a bird bath, garden and water fall, fish pond and of course, umbrella and more tables and chairs. A wrought iron fence encloses the courtyard and displays the beautiful ceramic potted, multi-colored Bougainvillea plants. The Courtyard is definitely a place to meet and eat with friends or family. Many wonderful people walk though our doors daily. They are a diversified crowd from many states and even many countries. We have found them to be cheerful, wonderful and very appreciative customers. As the word of mouth spreads, we are experiencing more and more new and return customers. These customers are very satisfied and have expressed a desire for an expanded menu. We have told them that this is a very real possibility in the near future. We feel that the Rabbit Hole is filling an important niche in the overall vitality of the downtown Clearwater community. There is no debate or contest that our food is the freshest, most nutritious, non-toxic, hormone-steroid free food for hundreds of miles around. Our freshness and quality cannot be beat. Come see for yourself. You’ll be very glad you made the acquaintance. The Rabbit Hole is for sale and the price has been slashed from $125,000. down to: $89,000.US (or best offer) This price includes all appliances, equipment, upgrades such as the addition of our new 1,000 Watt Open Mic Sound System. There is approximately $5,000 worth of inventory on the shelves at all times, and the approximate $63,000+ worth of equipment and improvements are all part of this sale. There is two and a half years left on our current lease and we have a wonderful landlord who is helpful and easy to work with. The sale includes the business & equipment only, and does not include the real estate / property.
