Guest guest
Hi all. I am new to the group. I have been ill for about 5 years now since being bitten by a tick while camping. I was first diagnosed with M.E/CFS for 2 years until I found out about Lyme disease, found a good doctor and got tested. I was positive and started treatment with long term antibiotics. I have now been on antibiotics for about 18 months and I am much better, but the antibiotics recently haven't made much difference and I think the infection might be eradicated but I have a different problem. Since first starting antibiotics I always have a dry mouth, a white-coated tounge and I always feel bloated after eating sweet things and starchy carbs. I am pretty certain I have a chronic candida problem attributing to my health problems. I did have a stool test about 18 months ago and it was positive for Candida back then, but stupidly did nothing about it as I was more concerned about the Lyme at the time. Now I want to stop the antibiotics and try to get rid of this candida. My symptoms now are; chronic fatigue, visual disturbances (floaters in vision, glare, etc), pains in joints and muscles, bloated and gassy stomach (mostly after eating simple carbs), very bad panic attacks and anxiety and headaches. I do live a pretty healthy life (except for the antibiotics). I try to exercise at least 3 times a week (It is difficult because I feel so fatigued), I eat organic whole foods, I have cut out 90% of junk and processed foods and I have replaced products containing chemicals with more natural things, I don't smoke and I only drink filtered water. I'm still young (19) and I just so badly want to get back to my normal life and finish my education. Can you recommend a good candida program or anti-candida supplements that will help? Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading. Chris
Guest guest
Grapefruit seed extract, pau d'arco, biotin for candida specifically. On my autism-related lists, a combination of antibacterial, antiviral and antifungals are used to great effect. Enzymedica makes a product called Candidase, and a combination of that product and their Virastop has helped many moms keep the yeast beast at bay, as well as keeping the bacterial and viral colonies from taking over. There are less expensive ways, but not always as effective. I am recovering from ME/CFS (and a few others, lol) and my dd is recovering from Asperger's, SID and PANDAS. The most effective intervention (and we are doing LOTS) has been high-quality digestive enzymes, with special attention paid to gluten, casein, fats and phenols. In addition to breaking down your foods properly, protease enzymes will "eat" candida die-off (eliminating much of the associated discomfort) and I think it's the phenol enzymes that break down the cell wall of yeast. There is a website with some good info, think it was www.enzymestuff.com. Are you against silver products? If not, taking a daily maintenance dose of silver can do a lot toward keeping overgrowth at bay. Hope this helps. Darla - chris_b_uk2 Sunday, August 17, 2008 7:49 AM [sPAM] Candida? health problems. Guest guest
Excellent advice from Darla. First, you should use copious amounts of omega-3 fats to quell the inflammation caused by candida. Use a bentonite +fiber cleanse to be sure all colonic rubbish is absorbed into the bentonite. Take this in increasing amounts until you get at least two large puffy bowel movements each day for about one week. If you experience gastric reflux regularly you should also take two mastic gum capsules first thing each morning on an empty stomach. You can then use herbs and enzymes such outlined by Darla. I personally use oil of oregano for most of my clients along with colloidal silver three times per day for at least three weeks. After this you need to establish colonies of friendly flora in the gut by taking multiple types of probiotics along with prebiotics such as FOS and Xylitol. If it is indicated in your CBC blood tests you also need to use a full parasite cleanse. Further, if you can afford it, get a hair mineral assay (about $100 fromTrace Elements). If you have high levels of mercury, candida will persist just as readily as if you consumed large amounts of sugar and antibiotic-laced foods. Mercury can be removed using certain herbs like cilantro and chlorella and by eating two Brazil nuts per day or selenium supplements. Sounds like a lot - but Candida is a bitch and needs to be treated seriously and completely while it is contained in the intestines. Do not let it have its way with you. If you have read Dr. Sinoncini's articles you will see it as the most likely cause of cancer.--- On Fri, 8/22/08, Darla Starkey <dsstarkey wrote: Darla Starkey <dsstarkey Re: Candida? health problems. Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to the group. I read the question about the person being bitten by a tick and contracting "Lyme Disease" - taking rounds of antibiotics and now dealing with the dreaded aftermath. Candida /Yeast overgrowth. Concerning the problem of Candidiasis that has now developed as a result of the long term antibiotic use, you have been given very good advice to consider . To add to this advice, please be assured that there is hope and help for this condition, but the cure is not overnight and will take a bit of time, so please be patient. I'm sure you are trying your best to cope. A modified vegetable juice fast may be something you will want to consider. Or think about getting the book "The Master Cleanser" by Stanley Burroughs we have used a modified version of this fast with great success. As far as your diet goes, you will of course, want to stay absolutely "low carb" - no sugar - low starch. No sugar will also mean no fruit juice. We usually use "Stevia" as a sweetener, we prefer to recommend this over Xylitol as some people can experience intestinal disturbances with the Xylitol.A few drops of "Oregano Oil" under the tongue several times a day , (as mentioned ) will be helpful as well as "Garlic oil". ( Yeast Destroyers), such as ("Three Lac" ) will begin killing the overgrowth immediately. You will also want to take good quality probiotics and soil-based organisms . Another helpful thing you can do ,is get some sunshine, if it's at all possible - take it easy and start with 10 or 15 minutes a day. Stay away from all trigger foods ( foods that can cause inflammation), see our Unhealthy foods list. For a bit more in depth information and help with your problems , you can check out our Candida Yeast page. Please be careful during this healing phase about what you take internally. A parasitic cleanse can be a bit hard on your system. If , for whatever reason , you decide to take a bulk producing product, containing psyllium or a cleansing products containing black walnut , either can be difficult for some people to tolerate. Stay with "Organic Produce". Try eating most of your veggies "raw". Be sure you clean them properly. Start slowly with any changes you make in your diet (except for the elimination of sugars and starches) . If you decide to take a particular product don't think along the lines of ..."If a little is good , then a lot should be better". Try one product at a time for a few days, so that you can see how you react to it. If all goes well, add another helpful product and so on. As the yeast/candida begins to die off , the by-products of the die-off can produce negative effects. You will need to be aware of this and don't give up. You can take an "Activated Charcoal" capsule once or twice a day. To help flush the toxins , you can drink pure water with organic lemon juice. Don't overdo it. Yeast-Candida-and the resulting fungus infection can be tenacious. Don't feed it what it needs to grow. Please chart your symptoms today - start a journal - jot a quick line when you have a chance. This is the way you will be able to see how you are improving. Some people tend to forget how bad off they were when they first started on the program and then a few months later , think they still don't feel that much better. Until they actually can look back and see how awful they felt in the first place !Hope this will help you start on your way. Best of luck and Health , you can s above to check out our website, if you have more questions or comments , you can also contact us through our website , (Basic Keys to Natural Health) we would be happy to hear from you and let us know how you are doing. In previewing my post, most of it is in ! Bold ! - I have not done this intentionally and have tried to correct it , with no results - so my apologies - but I don't have the time to do the whole thing over right now - Best Regards - , Tony De Angelis <tntstuart wrote:>> Excellent advice from Darla. > > First, you should use copious amounts of omega-3 fats to quell the inflammation caused by candida.
