Guest guest
Not sure how well BioOil works - I had a patient with horrendous scars on her arm and we used to apply BioOil daily and it reduced the ridges of the scars and they flattened out well under pressure dressings - to put any oil on acne seems counter indicated to me as i always associate acne with oily skin. - I have a bottle in front of me but the ingredients are not indicated on the bottle - I think it has calendula in it - it certainly smells very nice - here is it AU$20 for 125ml - google has a heap of info on it - mostly advertising though: INGREDIENTS: Vitamin A: Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate on the label) helps improve the skin's elasticity, texture and tone. Vitamin E: The most widely used antioxidant in skincare products today, Vitamin E increases the moisture content of the epidermis, thereby making the skin softer, smoother and more supple. Vitamin E also assists in the proliferation and maintenance of healthy skin. Calendula oil: Calendula Officinalis, more commonly referred to as marigold, has been used for centuries as a natural antioxidant and has the ability to clarify and condition the skin, while providing soothing and calming benefits for sensitive skin types. Lavender oil: Lavender oil is widely known to have skin conditioning properties, and is also effective in calming and soothing the skin. Rosemary oil: Rosemary oil helps to invigorate and condition the skin, in addition to having calming and soothing properties. Chamomile oil: Chamomile has a calming and soothing effect and is particularly beneficial for sensitive skin. It also helps to condition and clarify the skin and assists in maintaining its natural health. PurCellin Oil: PurCellin Oil acts as a delivery system for Bio-Oil's other ingredients, dramatically improving the application and spreadability of the product, and allowing for targeted absorption into the skin. Complete ingredients listing: Paraffinum Liquidum, Triisononanoin, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Isopropyl Myristate, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, BHT, Bisabolol, Parfum, Amyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene, Linalool, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, CI 26100 - " Sarah " <casinolady1969 Friday, September 05, 2008 10:38 PM Re: 25 Health benefits of lemons: Bio-oil is very good for healing scarring. It is quite dear for a bottle £8 in the UK (about US $16?) but it lasts for ages and does work. I used it for my ceasarean scar and also odd pigment marks on my face. It contains natural oils but am not sure if the other ingredients are. Maybe someone could enlighten us? http://www.bio-oil.info/
Guest guest
I was suggesting that the bio-oil be used for the old acne scarring, but I suppose it would be difficult to apply if there were new acne spots that were going to be covered in oil too. It certainly helped my caesarean scarring which was worse than was expected as it got infected during recovery. It seems to have a good testimonial rate too though how much is marketing I don't know. It has been tested on a couple of tv shows here too and did very well on tests. That, and the fact it worked for me is the only reason I suggested it. I'm not in the habit of recommending products! Thanks for the info Jane , I wonder if anyone else knows about all the other ingredients, whether they are natural or chemical? Or if there is a website where you can look up ingredients such as these?
