Dear Editor:

In answer to Jennie McCary, the dietitian, aspartame was never proven

safe. Here is a report that goes into detail:

http://www.mpwhi.com/review_and_ban_aspartame.htm The European Food

Safety Authority said of the Ramazzini Study that the rats had

respiratory disease but Dr. M. Soffritti told them that respiratory

disease is the dying process at which point, Dr. Koeter of EFSA

confessed as discussed in the report above that they were pressured

by industry to highjack science. You will see in the report that the

FDA told Congress that aspartame violated the Delaney Amendment

because it triggered brain tumors and brain cancer. They knew all

along. The report also discusses studies by industry. The American

Dietetics Association is funded by industry and defends aspartame

every time it is exposed. Aspartame is an addictive excitoneurotoxic

carcinogenic drug that interacts with virtually all drugs and

vaccines due to damage to the mitochondria. It is a poison and there

is a medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic,

www.sunsentpress.com as well as a movie telling how Don Rumsfeld got

it marketed. after the FDA revoked the petition for approval. The

aspartame documentary that tells the whole story is Sweet Misery: A

Poisoned World, www.sunsentpress.com We do not want the public

stumbled into using this toxin.

There is a safe sweetener called Just Like Sugar that is made of only

chicory and orange peel, Vitamin C and Calcium and we've had an

analysis run. It can be gotten at Whole Foods or on line at

www.justlikesugarinc.com

Aspartame safety

As a registered dietitian, I would like to clarify the record

regarding a statement made in Kathy Stephenson's recent story about

sweeteners, " How sweet it is " (Tribune, Oct. 7).

The Italian studies mentioned in the article run counter to 40

years of research confirming aspartame safety. After reviewing the

Italian work, multiple health experts, most notably the European Food

Safety Authority, concluded that there is no credible evidence that

aspartame is carcinogenic and that there is no need to further review

the safety or to revise previously established levels of safe and

acceptable intake.

Obesity is a problem in today's society that truly does present

a health risk. Safe, low-calorie sweeteners like aspartame are tools

that help my clients manage calorie intake while enjoying

good-tasting foods and beverages. I appreciate the article's review

of sweeteners, but we must be careful not to scare consumers with

claims that have been dismissed by health experts.
