Guest guest
I had a few referals of sweating palms and soles patients coming in my office for treatments. A lady , age 34, a pharmacist who did not believe in acupuncture at all. However, she was introduced to me by her brother, M.D, just to ask for me and have a try. At first, she was reluctant and just asked to see if I could treat this case. I told her I had to know the history of a patient, lifestyle, and pulses in order to render a treatment. I said I had treated only a few cases ( more than 15 cases ) successfully in the past. She was robust, self-ego, confident, and very smart. Pulses were full-slightly fast ( 98 beats / min ), only sweating palms and soles happens all the times. She always had her towels or napkins with her to keep her hands dry. Whenever she used her mind or got nervous, more sweating. In the winter, even there was sweating but much less than in the summer. No other signs and symptoms. She was so afraid of needles and disliked herbs, only believed in med. " Oh, well ! I can give some herbs for this case if you can not take needles. the next day you will be free of this sweating, I hope. " No. I will never take herbs nor needles. But his brother was there , he assured her, " Dr. Nguyen will not hurt you at all. I will be the blame for this if it does. Trust me! " No herbs, fine ! Then I have to give you only one needle and it will stop in a minute. If not, I render a wrong treatment or wrong diagnosis , then we could forget all the treatments. First , I dried her hands several times with clean dry tissues. But then I could see the hand got wet instantly and if I leave it for 15 seconds the hands will drip. It was very bad and she was so annoyed of it. I kept drying her hands several times and observed how quick the water emerged from her palms. She said her soles also got wet like her hands. Treatments : I chose Sp 6 , manipulated and wiped her hands, water still came out. More manipulation and stronger, wiped again and again, water came out again. More maniupation but lighter, wiped again and again. The water stopped completely, less than 45 sec " World Record " . It was shut down completely. BINGO !!!!!!!!! IT WAS DONE. 5 days later she returned and said I still have sweating palms but was much less. OK, Do you want to continue ? Oh, sure ! I could not believe it with my eyes. My husband was so amazed and I brought him here to see how you do it because he did not believe it. I checked her pulsed, moderate, her hands were wet but not as much. I wiped again, it got wet again but slowly. This time I chose P6. Manipulate and wiped her hands. After a minute, her hand were dry. I stopped the treatment. That's it ! She came back to the office often to visit her brother and me. There were no more sweating palms neither soles. She proclaimed " It was a cure ! I could not believe it and my husband would never believed it if it did not happen to me. I am a medicine woman and believed only in Western Medicine, no others, until I had a treatment -an incureable disorder - with dr. Nguyen " . Hey, everybody ! This is a good sign of trust. I had convinced some other MDs and nurses with different cases. You can do it too. I believe in all of us! Please have faith in yourself. They are not difficult to convinced them with your needles. GOOD LUCK to all of you if you wish to treat sweating palms ! Have confidence in this case, a real case. This is not a seminar nor a bluff. I love you all, TCM ! Guest guest
HI Guy, You had a good question. Sp6 is the queen point of the body. Spleen function is not only to do the function of transformation of blood and body fluids but it also has a major function to hold them in place. Spleen Qi deficiency may cause blood def this will cause nervous or palpitation , irritability, insomnia. In this case, I imagine Sp Qi is not holding its material as it should. And it was true that when she got nervous or focused on something, it sweated out. If she focused something and sweated out, that was her Qi get depleted when in use, and the holding does not do the job properly. This is a chronic, long time disorder, it should not be treated as excess as most of us claimed. Our TCM does think it was damp, or damp heat, damp cold. Whatever they think, it may be OK.But there were hundred of formulas for this case, none was helped. Again TCM thinks it was heat evaporate body fluids, steamed up. I used to think of this approach and applied, but none was help. I must imagine and think of other way and I hope everybody , us , has the right to think in our own way, not exactly from the book. Some books have fooled me for a long long time. I trusted them so much , but it brought me no luck. I have friends who always cried out loud, " Oh! I cured those easily ! " Well, he always asked me how I cured this because he has heard it from my patients. What about Stomach ? Stomach holds food, grain, same as intestines. What about Kidney ? Kidney purifies water and stores in the bladder, not in kidneys. What about Lungs ? Lungs do not hold water , but disseminate it throughout the body, moistures all tissues. What about the heart ? Heart store blood temporarily and spread it out, not holding it. How about UB ? Ub not holding it, emptying it when it is full. Do I make myself clear to you for your answer ? Again, thanks for your inquiry! Guest guest
Hi Nam You offer an original idea! I never thought of the Spleen as holding the sweat from pouring out of the body. As you probably know, the function of regulating the skin pores is associated to the lungs. Also I would also suspect the heart as it controls the sweat . So I can imagine points like ht-5 or pc-6 as being useful for this case . Looking at it from a different angle, excessive sweat can stem from a lack of disharmony between the Ying and Wei. According to some sources Sp-6 has the affect of balancing the two, and maybe this is another way to explain the success of the treatment. Thank you for sharing this case with us. Guest guest
Hi Guy, You had good point. Ying and Wei disharmony would cause sweating. But I think this would happen to the entire body, chest, back, not palms, soles neither on forehead. Because I thought this is not the entire body or Wei Qi deficiency, for there was no deficiency symptoms. I only looked at Qi is not holding its liquid. I think Gui Pi tang would do the trick if someone is so shy of needles. A BIT OF REVIEW : I categorized 5 Qis in total, to 5 elements , so we will never forget. 1st , Liver ( movement, action, vibrating as wind .. Smoothing Qi, repairing Qi ) 2nd , Heart ( warming , heating , expanding, spreading as fire and strong violent wind - see as if any wildfire or building onfire .. Shen Qi ) 3rd , SP ( nourishing, distributing , and holding -entering and existing as food Qi and bodyfluid ... Ying Qi ) 4th, Lu ( protecting, defending, drying ... Wei Qi ) 5th, Ki ( sinking, storing , cooling , descending , maintaining ... Jing Qi ) If we remember these 5 Qis, we will ask ourselves in our diagnosis for help. We may have a good answers. GOOD LUCK ! If Ying and Wei disharmony which causes the body wet, I suggest B12 , B13 and S36; or only S36. We may choose L7, but is it strong enough ? We should experience it first because L7 for nightsweat -Kidney yin deficency with Lung problem. H5 , I only use in case of heart Qi deficiency with chest discomfort, heaviness, not for sweating. -- In Chinese Medicine , " Guy Sedan " <guysedan wrote: > > Hi Nam > You offer an original idea!
