Guest guest
With urban areas becoming more crowded with acupuncturists there is a move towards specialization-the most common claim seems to be in women's medicine:ob/gyn or fertlity. What has been the group's experience with stating they are specialists? I'm wondering what my fellow acupuncturists feel is an ethical and experientially sound path to stating one has specialization. (as distinct from-this sounds good, so I'll advertise accordingly). Is it what one likes to work in? Is it what one has had the most sucess in? Is it based on further study, and if so, how does one pursue further study in a lesser known field? Say I wanted to claim I am an expert in pediatrics? There aren't many experts here. Would I go to China? If I found someone to study with closer by, should they have a certain percent of pediatric patients comprising their practice? I think these issues are worth discussing as our field becomes more crowded, and would like to hear thoughts on the matter.
