Guest guest
Phil: I have always heard good things about Julian Scott, who has a specialty in pediatric acupuncture and has written several books. Check out his site below. I don't treat children, but years ago my son was treated by a practitioner that went to one of Julian Scott's workshops. She really went to support my son, and had not done much with children herself. I found the treatments for my son very effective. Guest guest
I decided to buy both the Julian Scott book and a book by May Loo. The Scott book is comprehensive as far as specific childhood illnesses, etiology and pathology, and prognosis. He also talks a lot about the emotional components of diagnosing and treating kids, which I have found very helpful in my limited pediatric experience. The Loo book uses Scott's book as a reference, so it is somewhat derivative. However, she adds a focus on 5 element treatments (treating through the generating and controlling cycles), and there is a small section on non-insertive modalities. I also took a continuing ed. course on shoni shin -- completely non-insertive-- but I haven't found a book on it yet.: pkcusick: Sun, 5 Aug 2007 01:03:56 +0000 Re: pediatrics book suggestion someone, anyone, please.... Guest guest
Hi Phil, for vaccinations, there is the Randall Neustaedter book: The Vaccine Guide... http://www.healthy.net/scr/article.asp?ID=553 Check out www.hpakids.org There are many useful articles available online: http://www.hpakids.org/holistic-health/ I have Bob Flaws " old " book, " Turtle Tails and other Tender Mercies " , which has some really useful info on baby tuina techniques. You can find this one at some used book stores Also, I've read May Loo's book, which I recommend: http://www.amazon.com/Pediatric-Acupuncture-May-Loo/dp/0443070326 Good luck. Guest guest
I'm a big fan of Ya Li Fan's book. It covers much from both a practitioneers and parents point of view. We give it as a baby shower gift or for our patients that we help get pregnant. Bob www.acuherbals.com philcusick <pkcusick wrote: someone, anyone, please....
