Guest guest
Hi Good People: I have a patient, 29 yr old female, who underwent ACL surgery last year and has subsequently torn her meniscus on the same leg 6 months ago (while dancing in celebration of her full recovery from the surgery!!!). We have had good luck healing that, but it turns out that she is also suffering from what the docs are calling osteonecrosis on her femur and she is advised to keep all weight off of that leg for another 6 months - after already being on crutches since August, poor thing. They are talking of scheduling surgery to drill little holes into her femur to allow passage ways for the blood to flow. Needless to say, she would like to avoid surgery. I have had her on Jin Gu Die Shang Wan - she prefers to take the patents, but now is willing to try powders and even raw if it might keep the knife away. She is only recently taking the formula with any regularity, though. Her affected leg is much colder from the knee down than her good leg, but other than that, she is a very healthy, balanced person. Pulses are generally thready on the right and slightly wiry at middle left with both rear positions a little deficient. Her tongue is unremarkable with slight sublingual stagnation on the Right, which is the opposite side of her injured knee. Anybody out there had any experience with osteonecrosis? Any suggestions? Thanks very much in advance, Julia Carpenter, LAc, MSOM Berkeley, California
