Guest guest
I am seeing a 27 y/o female with a chief complaint of severe clitoral pain. It's extremely painful to the slightest touch. She has had this for the past 2 years. It's also too painful to allow her to have intercourse. The patient says that the clitoris sheath/hood seems slightly red and irritate, but there is no damp or oozing from the surrounding sheath/tissue. She has seen a number of Western Med specialist, ob/gyn, pelvic pain specialist, who haven't offered a diagnosis, other than the posibility of having to surgically alter the sheath/hood surrounding the clitoris. She's tried a number of western meds, and external soaks, and physical therapy, without any lessening of the pain. She also has secondary issue involving digestion, and my initial diagnosis was Liver Qi Stagnation with Liver overacting on Stomach. I've seen her a few times and her digestive issues are much improved but nothing has changed regarding the clitoral pain. I've just read about using some extra-points 1.5 cun lateral to CV3, with electro-stim, for clitoral/vulvar pain. I plan on trying that out. Had anyone dealt with this type of case. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Guest guest
Hi Gary, I've had similar cases of vulvar/clitoral pain w redness (CM Syndrome of Liver Qi stagnation overacting on St or Japanese/Meridian Therapy version: Sp def / Liver exc / Heat). Above diagnosis usually comes with a pulse image that shows def in Right Chi and Guan and exc in left Guan or entire left side with a wiry pulse. If so then check Sp3, PC6, PC9 Liv3, 5, and 8 for pain and/or indurations - needle the spleen points with reaction first and then recheck liv points - if still painful or they still have induration then needle them - if the def and exc in the pulse harmonizes and the general pulse turns less wiry her symptoms should start clearing immediately! Hope this helps Kindly, Thomas Sorensen Lic. Ac. Denmark 2008/2/15, Gary Baranzini <conanjb: > > I am seeing a 27 y/o female with a chief complaint of severe clitoral > pain. Guest guest
Look for ashi points on the nose, as some systems view the nose as being symmetrical to the urethral meatus (as the mouth is to the anus). Also, as it wraps the genitalia, think liver. Also, one must think of the heart as some taoist systems reflect the tip of the penis as being related to the heart, which would correspond to the clitoris. Douglas Knapp Doctoral Fellow, L.Ac. Guest guest
Alon: You may want to consider other modalities. What comes to mind for me is energy healing. I learned Chakra energy balancing from Arline Kline, who studied with Rosalyn Bruyere (Wheels of Light author). I use this method to pull pain from the body at the aura level. I integrate it when necessary, but would definitely consider it if things aren't moving. You can look for any energy healers that are well respected in your area. I particulary like this method. Guest guest
Wow. I am amazed that treatment for this unfortuanate woman has even been initiated based on such limited information! Are we not treating Holisically? Having said that, I have found many female urogenital conditions reapond well to an excellent diagnosis regarding the third or lower burner. Follow the Qi. It appears to be moving " down and out " . There is a reason for this. Find out what it is. Allow it to move where it is supposed to go. How long has this been going on? What was the time of it's inception? What was going on before hand? What has helped? What has hindered? What do the pulses and tongue tell us? What other conditions accompany this?
