Guest guest
Hi Bill, I'll respond as best I can. Liu Ming teaches his classes at Sears Lofts, 2633 Telegraph Ave., #305, Oakland, CA 94612. He teaches a wide range of classes. Taoist nutrition is one of them. Some are open to the general public where in you pay a fee for the individual class. I think if you write a letter to the above address and provide your email address, he may be inclined to add you to the general email list that is specific for public events. Liu Ming is teaching a Nourishing Within class tomorrow starting at 9-12 noon and 2-5 PM. Nam Singh teaches two first year classes on alternating Wednesday evenings at this time. One class is soon advancing to the second year. There is an introduction Taoist nutrition class that Nam is teaching every other quarter at American College of TCM. I'm speaking to Nam on the phone right now, and he says that it's okay to list his phone number in this email. Nam Singh is at 415-334-0616. His Wednesday night classes are taught in his home at 86 Malta, San Francisco, CA 94131. For those in London, Nam is scheduled to teach in April. Nam is just now finishing a curriculum for making elixirs, meaning yin tonics extracted and preserved in some nice alcoholic beverage like brandy, cognac or rice wines. The elixir class will be taught in the fall, so you can sip your elixirs in the winter and spring. Nam only checks his email every few days which is fui9. You might more readily make contact with him by phone. Nam notes that Liu Ming's recipes and style of cooking are quite different than his own, and yet they both address the qi nodes and da qi of when the classes are taught. If vegetarians are in the class, Nam will consider them in the curriculums, menus and recipes. They need to bring this to his attention. Respectfully, Emmanuel Segmen -------------------- Re: Taoist Nutrition Emmanuel, I didn't know that Nam Singh was still teaching cooking classes. Do you have any contact info for the Bay Area classes? The link was for the school in New York and London. I'm familiar with Charles Belyea's teaching, since he taught smester- long classes in nutrition and Chinese history when I was in acupuncture school 20 years ago. I'm surprised to hear that he is teaching so many vegetarian recipes, as that wasn't the case whan I took his classes back then. - Bill Schoenbart
