Guest guest
Hi All, I have translated the medical classics text of Jin Gui Yao Lue (the Synopsis of Golden Chamber) by ZHANG, Zhong-jing to Eng. and look for proofreader here. It is the major of my graduate studies(master degree,3 yr)in Chengdu U of TCM. It is a very important and clinically practical text as it discusses the etiology, principle treatment, and formulas of forty plus internal diseases. It is praised by latter physicians as 'the book that saves lives' and 'the ancestor of all formula books'. If you -enthuiastic about the classical text -articulate in Eng lang (editing/writing experiencs a plus) - have basic training in tcm theory Please contact me and we can dsicuss the details. I locate in Hong Kong and would like to work with you side by side so you will have the immediate feedback. The manuscript has no major ambiguities but needs eyes for grammatical errors. The content is very rich though. If you cannot make it, we will work something out. Compensation depends upon your training and experiences. Or, I will share with you my clincial experiences with effective formulas or whatever you want to learn (eg taichi, push hand) within my sources. By the way, I am a 50s asian male who speaks good eng., L Ac & CM practitioner in Hong Kong. Thank you for your attention. Guest guest
Good afternoon Sung, Yuk-Ming I am interested in working with you to edit the text you are referring to. I have done proof reading professionally for several newspapers, magazines and books. The latest book I worked on was " Esoteric Acupuncture, Vol IV " by Dr. Mikkio Sankey. I live in Los Angeles, CA and would be willing to work with you via email/internet connection. If this is of interest to you please reply to reenahm. sxm2649 <sxm2649 wrote: Hi All, I have translated the medical classics text of Jin Gui Yao Lue (the Synopsis of Golden Chamber) by ZHANG, Zhong-jing to Eng. and look for proofreader here. Guest guest
I want to thank you all who responded to my post. Due to Arduousness ofthe content, I prefer someone who can physically come to Hong Kong andwork alongside with me on fulltime basis. That probably takes anywherefrom 2 wks to a month. Those who have future plan to study in China or has strong movitation to succeed in clinical efficacy as TCM practitoner please seriously consider this. Let me emphasize the requirement again. -native eng speaker with good eng skills -background of the basis of tcm theory -enthuisatic about study classic text of ZHANG, zhong-jing and willing to commit -able to travel to Hong Kong (u don't need to know Chinese at all as i will interpret for u) As this is a very academic matter and is a quite not ordinary request, I also initiate a mentor-apprentice relationship. I am willing to train serious apprentice. U may wonder what i have to offer. I published 10+ articles in the top ranking jounrnals of tcm in China(research), a trained teacher myself(teaching), good clinical results in diabetics, ENT, lung system etc. I cannot spam here but u feel free to ask me. Guest guest
Dear Dr. Sung, Proofreading is its own profession with its own tricks of the trade, such as, for instance, reading backwards. However, it sounds to me like what you are really looking is not a proofreader but an English language editor? If you are looking for a proofreader, then that person does not need to know any CM theory. They merely have to be provided with a list of technical terms and their correct spelling. Guest guest
Normally, you want to have more than one proofreader go through a book. One of them should be familiar with Chinese medical theory, and the other doesn't have to be a subject expert. I have worked as an editor on and off for 40 years, and I can tell you that I frequently find errors that would get past somebody not familiar with the subject matter. - Bill Schoenbart , " Bob Flaws " <pemachophel2001 wrote: > > Dear Dr. Sung, > > Proofreading is its own profession with its own tricks of the trade, > such as, for instance, reading backwards.
