I like HBW needles. No coating, very comfortable, super cheap. I mostly

use 36 guage.

RE: skin resistance

Janis,

There are other needles that are not silicone coated,

but I have found Helio's to be easiest for insertion

and manipulation.

Yes, the Acu- needles are pricey. I do not recall that

they are pricier than Sierin's, though. I decided to

ignore that factor with needles.

Interesting, your experience with patients with

tougher skin. I bet part of it is truly that the

nervous system comes to know and be more receptive to

the needles.

Sean,

I've not heard of HBW. Are they available in boxes of 1000? Where can I find

out more about them?

Andrea Beth,

Well, the HBW needles do have wound handles with the little perpendicular

loop on top, so not sure if they will make the cut with your criteria. They

come in boxes of 500 (5needles/tube x100). I am not sure if we can post

links to commercial sites, so I will send you the link directly. They may

send you a sample pack to try out if you ask them. I just contacted the

needle brand Z'ev mentioned (Kenshin) and they are sending me a sample pack

to try out.

I use MAC needles and find them very comparable to Seirins (much

cheaper, not sure if they are coated but I don't think so). Andrea, I

order them from acu-market and they don't come in packaging like you

described. I buy the box of 400 - they come in strips of 20 needles

with one guide tube (they give you a few extra tubes in the box).

If you don't use all the needles in a package, e.g. 20 per guide tube, how do

you keep them sanitary if the whole pack is not used right away.

They are packaged in rows of five blister packs - 4 packs of 5 needles

and one guide tube. Does that make sense? So the needles are

actually in packs of five not 20.

Thanks, Adam:

I am going to go back and follow this thread more closely. I use a lot of

needles in a treatment and use Serins, so I am putting out the big bucks on

needles.

I like them because I heard they hurt less. I don't feel my needling technique

is all that gentle, and I am trained in 5E. I use the 1/2 inch red needles, 1

inch red and 1 inch yellow, and vinco 5 needle packs for the ears, alot. I also

use some 1 inch metal from serin for draining AE (Back Shu points) and other 5E

(ID's ED's) clearing and draining treatments.

I remember the silicon discussion earlier, and believe that is on the Serin. I

would prefer not to have that, in case the patient is in some way allergic.

Also, I would like the cost to go down, as in your MAC needles. One thing I do

notice with the 5 needle packs is that I have packs that are not completely

used at the end of the day. Part of this is my own attention on the

treatment/and not paying enough attention to the needle pack available. I end

of using these on myself or any willing family member.

So Adam and Andrea, thanks for your explanation. I will check into some of

these brands. I recently ordered some AcuGlides (when I ordered my Helio

products) to compare them to Serin.
