Guest guest
Has anyone treated any hyperkinetic patients? I have a patient I have been treating for quite a while who is extremely hyperkinetic. Past history: 54 year old female Had polio as a child. Recovered but with low back and knee pain and of course scoliosis. Her patella's are misplaced (up too high on the knee) Obesity Palpitations controlled by medications which she insists she cannot stop taking or the palpitations return. Hypothyroidism. -She has switched off synthroid and is now taking Heel's Thyroidia. Symptoms: Hyperlingua (talks nonstop) Sleeps 1-2 hours at a time at night sometimes. Tells me she is exhausted Pale dim tongue with light white coating and a crack all the way down the middle to the tip. Swollen body with slight deviation to the right. Pulse is very deep and weak and somewhat slippery. Almost no appetite although she is obese. Claims she has to defecate 1/2 hour after eating. She also gets hot flashed 1 hour after eating. I have been treating her for some time and have managed most of her pain issues except when she falls and injures herself (which is constant) and she has lost some weight but this woman needs some sleep. Guest guest
Hi Lee. Low back pain and knee pain indicates Kidney involvement. The obesity I would say is deficient Spleen that fails to transport fluids. There is also Heart involvement, probably due to blood or more probably yin deficiency (crack on the tongue that goes to the front). The sleep problems is also a sign of blood deficiency in the heard. She speaks a lot, to talk is an action that is attributed to the Heart, with yin deficiency, there would be empty heat, that could make her talk more. Is the tip of the tongue red? Maybe the liver is involved, because she is not obese. Or ther might be stagnated food? the damp can also block the apitite. As points I would choose. GV20, Shi shen cong, amnien for the insomnia. And add HT7 and PC7 (maybe also SP4 + PC6) Otherwise, tone her up a bit with BL20, 21, 23, (BL42 if there is a general weakness in all the zang), add St36, KI7, KI3, Regards Peter Johansson Chinese Medicine , " ladylee0999 " <acudoc wrote: > > Has anyone treated any hyperkinetic patients? > > I have a patient I have been treating for quite a while who is > extremely hyperkinetic. > > Past history: > > 54 year old female > Had polio as a child. Guest guest
Thank you for your thoughts. They are pretty much as I was thinking and have been treating, minus the Shi shen cong and anmian. Her liver gets involved from time to time showing up as extreme stress or frustration, but she is usually pretty happy. Tip of tongue was red when I started treating her, but isn’t lately. It’s light dim red sometimes with a purple hue. Any good patent formulas?. _____ Chinese Medicine Chinese Medicine On Behalf Of pejo_mstd Wednesday, February 27, 2008 3:24 AM Chinese Medicine Re: Hyperkinetic Hi Lee. Guest guest
I will caveat this with, I haven't been following this thread in detail. For a patient as you describe, I would consider Ease Plus (Health Concerns) for Liver Qi Stagnation and Calm Spirit (Health Concerns) for resting the mind (anxiety and sleeplessnes). You can mix both of these formulas and he gives you instructions in his manual for doing it. Anne -- Anne C.
