I can find little on WWW on Withania somnifera in TCM. Most WWW pages

are on the Ayurvedic uses.

 

I would be very interested to hear what TCM herbal experts have to say

COMMON NAME: Ashwagandha; Ashwaganda; Ashvagandha; Asvagandha

(so called bc fresh Rx smells like a horse); " Indian Ginseng " (Ginseng

I don`t have much info on Withania, but thats what i got :

 

Ashwagandha / Withania Somnifera / Physalis Somnifera / Wintercherry :

 

Properties : Warm, bitter, sweet

Channels : Kidney, Lung

Activity : tonifies Yang ( one source said: tonifies Yin, Qi and Yang), calms

the Shen-Spirit
