Guest guest
Handling Rashes and Insect Bites Naturally Aloe Vera and Prickly Pear Cactus are both wonderful to grow and have on hand when needed. If you live in a cold area, they need to be brought in to survive the winter weather. We’ve all heard about and hopefully experienced the great wonders of Aloe Vera. It can be used internally as a drink or enema, and can be applied externally, directly on the skin to handle burns and scrapes. Did you know that the Prickly Pear Cactus is another desert plant that works absolute wonders in handling skin conditions of every kind? The flat pad of the plant will help handle skin rashes, insect and poisonous snake bites. You can also drink the juice of this marvelous plant to cool body temperature and lower fevers. As the sections grow, you can break off a pad with a pair of pliers (avoid the small barbs), skin it with a knife and use the inside part as a poultice or just massage the slimy pulp onto your skin. You can also plant the pad and grow another Prickly Pear cactus. I've handled Fire Ant bites between my toes in about 3 seconds. I also got rid of a rash on my leg in 2 to 3 days. Doc picked up a serious bout of Athlete’s Foot at the gym. He applied the Prickly Pear slime to the affected areas and by the next day his rash had healed over and was a little itchy. By the third day, it was completely gone. This from Kathy Cooks . . . Naturally, Kathy Hoshijo, hostess several years back of a popular TV series KATHY'S KITCHEN says: "Just today I was reading a national newspaper and there was a story in it about a world-famous doctor, who does organ transplants, using slices of papaya to heal infections on his patients when antibiotics don't work! The amazing results were that the wounds would heal within days of the application of the papaya slices." page 163 Also, "Some people I know take the papaya skins after they've eaten the fruit and rub their faces with the peels. They let the sticky substance near the peel dry on their skin and later rinse it off. They tell me it helps sunburn and promotes a good complexion for all types of skin. I used to rub peels on my baby's bottom whenever he got a diaper rash and it would heal within half a day." page 164 Use these remedies. You'll love them !!
