Guest guest
Dear Doc Shillington: A quick Post-Holidays 'Medical Mystery' Question... Any suggested 'Natural Medicine' approaches for a extremely difficult condition which Conventional Med. has had no effective therapies for... [1] TMJD/Facial Pain: SEVERE TMJ dysfunction, 50 y.o. Female, (Osteoporotic, Chronic Pancreas complictions, recurrent episodes of Acute Pancreatitis), one sided ® torn TM Joint articular cartilage demonstrated on MRI), but main problem is severe, chronic intractable Head/Facial Pain..stabbing/sharp in nature usually worse one side, (but does affect both sides, and shifts sides in severity...), severely aggravated by cold, and especially combination of " Cold+Wind " , and of course, stress. Pain is described as 'Stabbing Like An Icepick' through one, or both ears. Bilateral Estauchion tube and Chronic Oro-Pharnygeal Pain & INFLAMMATION, one or both sub-mandibular lymph nodes chronically swollen/inflammed, (and much worse on the acutely painful side), loss of balance, aggravated during episodes, due to inner ear involvement, ('drunken sailor walk'), Multiple & Reactive " T.P's. " in Massetter mm, Temporalis mm, (+ multiple, various & shifting additional T.P's palpable in various Upper Cervical/Thoracic/Trapezius locations). Possible Zoonotic and almost assuredly underlying multiple, chronic polymicrobial/viral 'subclinical' infections driving chronic inflammation/pain. 'Conventional Medicine' DX as osteoporosis, (1x, old lower Thoracic fracture demonstrated on planer film X-ray & CT), Chronic Pain & " Psychiatric Disorder " , (I know you know this dance...whenever their confronted by difficult/complex case don't have a clue about or can't understand....well then it's 'In Their Head " ...referral! Next Pt w/ a 'Real Problem' Please.....Times up, got to move on.... " <arrrgh/sigh> Anyway, any thoughts in treating the underlying pain/inflammation from a Natural Medicine perspective? Conventional, (i.e. 'Western Medicine'), both has 'No Clue " ...and even worse, 'No Interest' in this Pts. condition or welfare, <all too typical in my experience...>. Thoughts? Happy Holidays & Wonderful, Bright and Prosperous New Year to You & Yours. Sincerely, Bruce Canning
