I'm so happy you're a natural healer and have helped your family.

I would wildcraft what you need. Its free. Just get a book on how to identify medicinal plants and go out and pick them. Peterson's Guides are pretty good.

Mullein you can wildcraft all over the USA but its best to grow basil, cayenne and stevia in your backyard or kitchen window.

I would recommend Organic Solutions 1-888-898-9960 as a real good source of organic herbs but the best source is mother nature herself so be a wild crafter.

Good findings

Save any seeds you find. Important to plant seeds as they have a write to grow. Best to wild craft a little at a time so as not to wipe out an entire species in an area or harvest after the seeds drop.

My dh has COPD and traditionally has had bronchitis yearly. We have held

it off with echinacea and zinc for the past 2 years. Unfortunately, dear

daughter and I got colds this year and we have held Rich off for the

past 3 weeks from any symptoms by serving him Basil tea reinforced with

Mullein (2 capsules of powder emptied) sweetened with honey or stevia.

He started with pretty bad symptoms yesterday however, including a sore

throat and extreme heaviness in his upper chest. I hit him with Basil

tea, fortified with 1 dropper of Plantain extract, 1t Rosehip extract

and the Mullein. I mixed 1/4c raw honey mixed with 4 droppers of Cayenne

extract which he licked from a spoon frequently through the night. I

ordered echinacea every hour yesterday. This am, he announced, " it

works! " He feels better, though his sinuses are still stuffy.

Now I need to go order more herbs. Anybody have a good source to share?

Thanks, Bryan, you have piqued my interest and I have been busy studying

my herbal medicine identification books. At first I was concerned that I

don't have everything listed, then it occurred to me that I don't have

to! God planted our medicine in different areas so that there are a

variety of remedies that do the same thing. I now and focusing on local

stuff and am only buying a few items that I can't get here and a few

things in small amounts to tide me over until some herbs are ready to

wildcraft.

Here is what I am doing now:

My first 'herbal medicine' is a calendula ointment that we use for

almost everything! I already have my cayenne tincture, my 1st tincture

that I have made and am convinced that it is a miracle 'drug'. Other

than that, here is my medicine cupboard:

I have lots of Basil on hand and will continue, plus I will buy a few

plants this spring. Stevia seems to be hard to find. I had a plant two

years ago, but alas, did not bring it in and it croaked.

I made:

32oz Rosehip tincture

Nasturtium oil

Thyme oil

Spearmint tincture

Lemon tincture

In process:

Habanero and Cayenne tincture that I will mix together.

Ginger tincture

English Ivy tincture

Rosemary Tincture

Cinnamon Tuncture

Allspice Tincture

Clove Oil

Willow bark tincture (we had a large branch come down in a storm

Monday night and I couldn't let it go to waste!)

Total tonic

Ordered:

Coltsfoot (I'm not confident that I can ID it locally)

Juniper berry (Very available locally, but not in season)

California poppy (planning on planting some next month)

Eucalyptus

Licorice Root

Passion Flower

Peppermint

Hawthorne berries

Chinese Star Anise

My dad is sending over some pine needles from Michigan. I will get some

cedar and fir here. These will be used for disinfectants.

Mullein is very plentiful here, but of course, is not available yet,

rather I am not heading up the mountains right now. Snow is pretty

unpredictable in the mountains. I dug some Valerian root this afternoon

and have it in the dryer now. I will start some tincture tomorrow.

I am giving a presentation in herbal medicine in March to our local

garden club. I plan to ask them to share their gardens with me in

exchange for a tea or tincture ;-) .

Any suggestions on other 'staples' I should have on hand?

Awesome!!!! You're well stocked.

I would gather some charcoal from that willow branch and I would order

some Slippery Elm. Every herbalist should make some Total Healing

poultice powder for their medicine cabinet. I would say its time you

called us and got some of our formulas. Awesome on being a wild crafter.

You're great!!
