Guest guest
It has been scientifically studied that once you add herbs to alcohol the properties change and is no longer alcohol. It allows the herb which is now in tincture form to become stronger and last longer. I contacted Dr. John R. Christopher family's "The School of Natural Healing" Herbalists Courses & more... they stated it extracts and preserves thus making it a healthy sourse. (of course disclaiming it being medicinal) I asked if you could get drunk they said no I don't believe you will. I have also tried to it didnt appear to work. Someone else said they did to, to no avail.According to credible laboratory tests, the herbs drown the alcohol and are considered as medicine. MARIA TREBEN (Germany and Austria-Book)-Health through God's Pharmacy pg 57. A drunk can be sober on the spot with 2 TBS of swedish bitters pg 59. (also disclaiming not intended to diagnose or prescribe only used to promote health)Again common sence If taken as prescribed then its not going to be addictive all tinctures taste nasty worse than alcohol. Yes all things can be abused. Seek professional help if this is the case.Have a great dayTDavis I am gonna ask kind of a dumb question, but I have been thinking of it for a long time... Guest guest
This is NOT TRUE DATA ! ! ! There is still alcohol in the mixture. And yes! You can get drunk on a tincture if you drink enough of it. Alcohol is not only the drawing agent when making a tincture, it acts as a catalyst to absorb the bio-chemical properties of the herbs into the body. If you want to get rid of the alcoholic effects of the alcohol in a tincture, just add it to some very hot tea and the alcohol will be the first to evaporate off. You can also use ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) when making a tincture and you'll get this same catalytic effect, but this only works on softer materials such as leaves and stems. On roots and hard materials, you definitely want to use Alcohol. Do not use Glycerin despite what some herbalists say, as it has no catalytic effects whatsoever. As such it will not get the herbs to work very fast so becomes a very weak substitute for making tinctures. Soooooooo, don't want the alcohol? Just put your tincture in a very hot tea. Guest guest
Thanks Doc not a bad thing to do, a half shot before going to bed, because alcohol is absorbed faster, right?... Think I'll drink in infusion style before going to work, safety my first motto, work in Maintenance... Not too worried about alcohol, after all I brew my own Mead, Hard Apple Cider and Beer, share most of it with friends. Thanks again Sandee ~~PEACE~~HippeeSandee Bloomingburg NY USAHippeeSandee's Endless Mountains Realm"People don't stop dancing because they get too old People get old because they stop dancing"--- On Tue, 5/19/09, Ian Shillington ND <docshillington wrote: Ian Shillington ND <docshillingtonRe: {Herbal Remedies} Shot of Tinctureherbal remedies Date: Tuesday, May 19, 2009, 12:34 PM This is NOT TRUE DATA ! ! !
