CODEX ALIMENTARIUS - A

standards commission under the auspices of WHO/FAO [uN].

Hat tip to HealthFreedomUSA.org

The

Codex Alimentarius agenda, which has long metastasized in the recesses

of closed boardrooms and governmental chambers, is now coming to light.

This is the paramount issue of our times, yet few know about it.

The

National Health Federation (NHF) is the only health-freedom

organization with recognized status at Codex Alimentarius meetings,

giving its members the right to speak out and submit comments on all

Codex actions.

Codex

is not just about nutritional supplements, although that is an

important aspect. In fact, it is the primary political battlefield

where the war is being waged about who will regulate and control the

global food supply, from field and stable to table.

As

a result of Codex rules, those vitamins and minerals that would compete

with medicines would require a doctor's prescription. The European

Union has already adopted Codex-type regulations that went into effect

across Europe in 2005.

The

concern is that the Codex Vitamin and Mineral Guidelines are creating

maximum upper limits on the amount of vitamins and minerals that can be

present in nutritional supplements for consumers all around the world.

Anything other than an extremely low, non-therapeutic amount of each

material is to be regulated as a drug.

The

purpose of the Codex Alimentarius Commission is to standardize all

regulations, resulting in product policies that are more convenient and

more profitable for trade interests but that work against consumers'

interests.

Codex will control:

1. Vitamins, minerals and nutrients;

2. Genetically modified organisms;

3. Toxic residues;

4. Antibiotics, drugs, growth stimulants, and

other hormones in food animals;

5. Organic foods; and

6. Irradiation of food.

The

plan is to suppress all beneficial, high-potency nutrients, and to

allow only those and a few other vitamins and minerals that will be

high-priced, low-dosage, and synthetically made by drug companies.

What Codex will accomplish? These new

standards and guidelines will:

1.

Protect the multimillion euro (European equivalent of dollars)

investments of the large drug companies as well as their

government-blessed monopolies; and

2.

Lead people away from natural healing methods, resulting in more power

for the government-medical-pharma cartel, more suffering and death for

the populace, and the further degradation of life on Earth.

Codex

is a joint venture between the United Nation's World Health

Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization (WHO/FAO). The

WTO stated that it will enforce Codex "guidelines"

Codex is also working with other groups

supporting the following agenda:

1. The chemical industry's aim that all

animals be treated with antibiotics and hormones;

2. The largest seed company in the world

(Monsanto) is working toward 100% genetically modified crops;

3. The nuclear industry's goal of irradiating

all foods including plants and livestock; and

4. All industries' goal: phasing out truly

organic foods, or at least, making them extremely difficult to obtain.

It

is important to note that Codex Alimentarius operates under the system

enshrined in the Napoleonic legal code, under which anything not

explicitly permitted is forbidden!

The

WTO has put the mechanisms in place to override any national law that

interferes with multinational corporate profits in international trade.

Some Codex standards that will take effect on December 31, 2009

and, once initiated, are completely irrevocable include:

*

All nutrients (vitamins and minerals) are to be considered

toxins/poisons and are to be removed from all food because Codex

prohibits the use of nutrients to “prevent, treat or cure any condition

or disease”

* All food (including organic) is to be

irradiated, removing all toxic nutrients from food (unless eaten

locally and raw).

*

Nutrients allowed will be limited to a Positive List developed by Codex

that will include such beneficial nutrients like Fluoride (3.8 mg

daily) developed from environmental waste. All other nutrients will be

prohibited nationally and internationally to all Codex-compliant

countries [2].

*

All nutrients (e.g., CoQ10, Vitamins A, B, C, D, Zinc and Magnesium)

that have any positive health impact on the body will be deemed illegal

under Codex and are to be reduced to amounts negligible to humans’

health [3].

* You will not even be able to obtain these

anywhere in the world even with a prescription.

*

All advice on nutrition (including written online or journal articles

or oral advice to a friend, family member or anyone) will be illegal.

This includes naturalnews.com reports on vitamins and minerals and all

nutritionist’s consultations.

* All dairy cows are to be treated with

Monsanto’s recombinant bovine growth hormone.

* All animals used for food are to be treated

with potent antibiotics and exogenous growth hormones.

*

The reintroduction of deadly and carcinogenic organic pesticides that

in 1991, 176 countries (including the U.S.) have banned worldwide

including 7 of the 12 worst at the Stockholm Convention on Persistent

Organic Pesticides (e.g., Hexachlorobenzene, Toxaphene, and Aldrin)

will be allowed back into food at elevated levels [4].

*

Dangerous and toxic levels (0.5 ppb) of aflotoxin in milk produced from

moldy storage conditions of animal feed will be allowed. Aflotoxin is

the second most potent (non-radiation) carcinogenic compound known to

man.

* Mandatory use of growth hormones and

antibiotics on all food herds, fish and flocks

* Worldwide implementation of unlabeled GMOs

into crops, animals, fish and trees.

* Elevated levels of residue from pesticides

and insecticides that are toxic to humans and animals.

Some examples of potential permissible safe

levels of nutrients under Codex include:

* Niacin - upper limits of 34 mcg daily

(effective daily doses include 2000 to 3000 mcgs).

* Vitamin C - upper limits of 65 to 225 mcg

daily (effective daily doses include 6000 to 10000 mcgs).

* Vitamin D - upper limits of 5 μg daily

(effective daily doses include 6000 to 10000 μg).

*

Vitamin E - upper limits of 15 IU of alpha tocopherol only per day,

even though alpha tocopherol by itself has been implicated in cell

damage and is toxic to the body (effective daily doses of mixed

tocopherols include 10000 to 12000 IU).

Last

year, transgenic crops grew on over 67 million hectares. Three

countries accounted for 95% of this area: the United States (66%),

Argentina (23%) and Canada (6%). Of the 40 GM crops approved for

commercialization in the United States, the most popular are corn,

soybean, cotton and canola.

Farming drugs

Crops

such as corn, soybean, tobacco and rice are now being genetically

engineered to produce pharmaceutical proteins and chemicals such as

topical contraceptives, growth hormones, blood clotters and thinners,

and industrial enzymes and vaccines - an activity dubbed "biopharming."

The

US Department of Agriculture has authorized at least 346 open-air field

trials of these crops since 1991. Two cases of crops contaminated with

corn engineered to produce pig vaccine (by the company ProdiGene)

occurred two years ago. In Nebraska, some 500,000 tons of contaminated

soybeans worth US$2mil (RM7.6mil) was destroyed. In Iowa, biopharm corn

cross-pollinated a neighboring field, and 63ha had to be burned.

Because

plants process proteins differently from humans and animals, there are

concerns that a plant-produced "human" protein could be perceived as

foreign by the body and elicit an allergic reaction. Trichosantin, a

potent abortion-inducing drug, has been introduced into tobacco by

means of an engineered virus that is also known to infect tomatoes and

peppers.

The

National Food Processors Association and the Grocery Manufacturers of

America have demanded that the biotechnology industry stop using crops

to produce drugs.

A

telling sign is that despite 13 years of field testing, not a single

plant-made pharmaceutical has received approval. The number of field

trials of biopharming has dropped dramatically from a peak of 42 in

2000 to six last year. Last year, Monsanto closed its biopharming

division. At the biosafety meeting last week, Mexican officials

declared a ban on imports of biopharm crops.

American Medical Association (AMA)

In

October 2000, at the 52nd World Medical Association General Assembly in

Edinburgh, Scotland, the Declaration of Helsinki underwent a

controversial revision, unleashing a firestorm of criticism from many

researchers, drug companies, and bioethicists who claim that the new

recommendations unnecessarily restrict and impede biomedical research

on human subjects. Proponents of the changes claim that it protects

patients by eliminating unethical research where the populations, such

as those in developing nations, are most vulnerable.

At

the heart of the controversy is paragraph 29 of the Helsinki

Declaration, which states that "the benefits, risks, burdens, and

effectiveness of a new method should be tested against those of the

best current prophylactic, diagnostic, and therapeutic methods. This

does not exclude the use of placebo, or no treatment, in studies where

no proven prophylactic, diagnostic or therapeutic method exists." In

essence, the paragraph forbids the use of placebos as a control

treatment in research studies unless no other proven treatment exists."

LIFE UNDER CODEX

In

the mid-1990s my mother, then in her 80s, had a stroke. She lived in

Germany. When she left hospital, I was ready with a nutritional plan

that included high-dose vitamins: C, E, and B – especially Inositol, as

well as Co-enzyme Q 10. I went to the pharmacy, whose owner was a

family friend for some 25 years, and handed him my list.

He

handed me a small packet with a price sticker of DM 200 (then about

$200) containing vitamin E capsules manufactured by one of Germany's

largest pharmaceutical companies. The source was synthetic, not the

"mixed" version from living plant sources I wanted which contains the

whole E spectrum. The package contained a total of 10,000 international

units of E, the equivalent of a mere 25 capsules of 400 IU each that we

are used to buying (I take that many in 3 days). Our bottles contain 90

capsules and cost about $20. If Codex rules in Canada, we will likely

pay $800 for a bottle of 90 capsules of low-quality vitamin E – if

Health Canada lets us buy that many at once, and if you can find a

doctor willing to prescribe it.

He

then handed me a tube-shaped metal container with vitamin C

effervescent tablets. Each tablet, when dissolved in water, would

release 10 mg of vitamin C in a refined sugar solution. Thus, this

ridiculously low amount was to be taken in a toxic medium that would

neutralize the vitamin without it doing anything at all. The cost:

about $10 for 12 tablets.

Then

he asked me, "What's Co-enzyme Q 10? Are you allowed to buy all this in

Canada in such dangerous dosages?" When I told him what I take daily,

his eyes popped. Then I asked, "Why can't I buy these supplements

here?" He replied, "Well, Germany is a Codex country." Oddly, Germany

has several government-run hospitals where environmental illness is

treated with nutrients only, intravenous vitamin C etc. Life is full of

paradoxes and few more follow below.

CODEX AND THE EU

Dr.

Carolyn Dean, a medical doctor and naturopath well known to Toronto

readers, is currently the president of "Friends of Freedom

International" in which capacity she attended the Codex meeting in Bonn

last November. She describes Codex as "the ultimate Big Brother

marching backwards into the future."

Effective

1 August, all vitamin and mineral supplements on the so-called

"positive list", including everything from Beta Carotene to Zinc, will

only be available in the 25 EU countries if they comply with specific

rules set out in the 10 June 2002, EU Directive Relating to Food

Supplements. All products must show maximum safe levels "as established

by science."

Those

nutrients found in the mythic "balanced diet" are to be subtracted from

the final values, and Article 6 (2) decrees that labels shall "not

attribute to food supplements the property of preventing, treating or

curing a human disease, or refer to such properties."

So,

the Directive's "science" knows nothing of Vitamin C preventing and

curing scurvy, Vitamin D preventing and curing rickets and

osteoporosis, or vitamin B curing and preventing anemia. It also

ignores the mountain of evidence showing our diets are chronically

deficient in essential nutrients because of factory-style farming

practices.

To

"ensure a high level of protection for consumers and facilitate their

choice", they even included baking soda and table salt. We must assume

they will be unavailable as of 1 August anywhere in Europe – with

interesting consequences for the tourist industry in the baked goods

paradises Austria, Switzerland and France.

Now,

there is also a "negative list" covering essential fatty acids,

phytonutrients, all the enzymes and more. Those cannot be marketed at

all, until the EU scientific committee in charge has made a final

decision. So, forget omega-3 and omega-6 fats, cod liver oil, and much

more.

The

effect of this directive will be that thousands of products and

businesses will be gone this year. In the UK alone some 21 million

people will suddenly have no access to any supplement vitamins,

minerals, enzymes, fatty acids and more. Since the onus is on

businesses to produce the scientific information on safety, they can't

produce or sell anything – not even to physicians who have the power to

prescribe any toxic drug as well as any essential nutrient. Obviously,

there will be ludicrous enforcement issues: Picture basement-concocted

vitamins sold in dark alleys alongside crack and Ecstasy.

Codex Alimentarius

- Billions of people will suffer from degenerative diseases due to poor

nutrition and limited access to health supplements if the powerful

global corporations behind the new Codex Alimentarius standards are

allowed to “harmonize” the world.

Since

2002, the Codex Alimentarius Commission has covertly surrendered its

role as an international public health and consumer protection

organization. Under the helm of big industry, the surreptitious purpose

of the new Codex is to increase profits for the global corporate

juggernauts while controlling the world through food.

All nutrients (e.g., vitamins and minerals) are to be considered

toxins/poisons and are to be removed from all food because Codex

prohibits the use of nutrients to "prevent, treat or cure any condition

or disease".

All food (including organic) is to be irradiated, thus removing all

"toxic" nutrients from food (unless consumers can source their food

locally). The precursor to Codex harmonization in this area began in

the USA in August 2008 with the clandestine decision to mandate the

mass irradiation of all lettuce and spinach in the name of public

health and safety. If the safety of the public was the main concern of

the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), then why were people not

alerted to this new practice?
